Just because something is well made, doesn't make it 'good' in my eyes. It's the passion that goes into making a movie.. the soul behind it. I can tell whether the makers had a lot of enthusiasm for the genre, or whether they were just pretentious douchbags and/or just in it for the paycheck.

He's the only thing good about it. He was amazing. The Academy has handed out awards for absolute bullshit compared to his fully realized rendition of Skelator. If only everything else was done half as well. If only it was made as Thor was.
I mention Thor because I couldn't believe anyone could make a good movie out of that comic character and not have it just be unbelievably camp and/or for only the most diehard of comic geek who mostly have no clue about or care about real filmmaking and real narrative. Frank Langela as Skelator is as good or likely even better than Loki in either Thor or The Avengers.
But Frank Langela is just fucking awesome in everything he does. He's my favorite Dracula. He can be a good guy or a bad guy and he has one of the greatest film voices of all time.

Yeah, I'll take Frank Langella as Skeletor over Tom Hiddleston as Loki.
I'll take Dolph Lundgren over that pretty boy douche Australian actor.
I'll take a cute young Courtney Cox over Natalie Portman.
I'll take practical/optical effects over CGI any day.
I'll take Teela over Sif.
Let's not forget Gwildor and Evil Lyn.

Courtney Cox over Natalie Portman?

It's got Langela, that's it. The rest of it is a pile.

Speaking of Deathstalker (dunno if this was mentioned earlier, my bad if it was), the blonde warrior chick in the movie was played by Lana Clarkson.. whose career came to an abrupt end when she was murdered by music mogul, Phil Spector.. just a little tidbit of useless information.

My biggest problem with the MOTU movie was that there were SOOOOOO many characters in the MOTU line that they could have pulled from and yet they used very few of them and created new characters instead.. on a positive note, I really liked looking at Teela's ass... that thong thing..
However silly the movie is, it's a guilty pleasure of mine and I've watched it many many times... Frank Langela yelling "KNEEL!!!" was a pretty epic moment in my opinion.

I still haven't finished watching Dragonslayer yet, what I saw was awesome, though. Actually I was really getting into it when my laptop overheated again.
Watched Excalibur again. One of the greatest fantasy/mythology movies of all time.
How come it was only the in the 80s that we could get gritty, adult fantasy films?

You could also get Rated-R fantasy and horror and lots of boobs in movies. The 90s happened and we've been recovering since.
