    Pacific Rim 2 (release date - 4/7/17)

Not a big fan of the first one. High hopes for part 2.

Guillermo del Toro has committed to making a sequel to “Pacific Rim” with Universal scheduling the release on April 7, 2017.

Legendary Pictures is producing the sequel to last year’s sci-fi monster film, which del Toro directed with Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day and Robert Kazinsky starring. “Pacific Rim” was set in the 2020s with the Earth by using giant Jaegers to battle Kaijus — monsters from an interdimensional portal on the bottom of the Pacific Ocean.

The film, which had a price tag of $190 million, took in only $101 million in the United States but performed decently at the international box office with more thaan $300 million, led by $114 million in China.

Del Toro revealed several weeks ago that he was working on a script for the sequel Zak Penn. He told BuzzFeed on Thursday that original screenwriter Travis Beacham would also be working on the script.

Good news although Pacific Rim did not meet expectations. Del Toro is great however so I will chalk Pacific Rim up as a fluke until I see something else from him that falls short. Still highly looking forward to Crimson Peak!

I absolutely love Pacific Rim and was hoping the success of Godzilla would make them reconsider a sequel to this. I do however, take everything Del Toro says with a grain of salt because, he does tend to be involved in a ton of shit that never ends up happening. I do really wish this happens though. While I hope to see some new Jeagers I wanna see a new version of Cherno Alpha I loved that bucket head. And I do wanna see other Jaegers front and center more. The first one was mostly just Gypsy Danger with everybody else in the background. Some of them got really under used in the first film, and oh yeah some fights during the daytime please!

Really liked the first one despite its most glaring issue being the lead actor was outshined by the whole damn cast. I think its charm was enough to outweigh the one big negative though.

The more kaiju films the better IMO

I really enjoyed the first Pacific Rim as well, and am TOTALLY down with a sequel.. I've always felt in the first one, that when they scrapped the Jaeger program in favor of the Wall project, there was probably some sub-plot in the original screenplay about kick-backs and other greed-based motives for going that route, rather than just doing the smart thing by building better Jaegers to handle the increasingly more bad-ass kaiju..

I'm also looking forward to the cartoon and prequel comic-book series that Del Toro has said he is also going to be doing.. the more kaiju the better, says the guy with a big Godzilla tattooed on his back. LOL
