No interest in this at all. Going to be another "OMG it's so good and violent it's the bestest!!!111" borefest with actors taking roles they really are above.
The tranquility of night hides many malevolent things taking place under a stunning, mysterious sky pocked with precious gems of light. -GP

It looks like the film will air on direct tv first in september before having a limited release in theaters along side a vod release.

Indeed. 2017 hasn't been good to us.

I caught a screener of this earlier and I'm barred from posting a review until the film's October release, so until then here's a rundown of my thoughts:
The movie was decent, but didn't really feel like TCM until the last 20 minutes. For the first hour we're just following these escaped "teens" as they go on a rampage across the state, while also trying to evade the police, specifically Stephen Dorff, who has a grudge against the family. There's a great sequence in a diner where a bunch of people get killed and they try to play like we can't actually guess who's the real Leatherface from the group when it's fairly obvious. There's a girl among the group that's actually crazier than the guys, which I thought was cool and Lili Taylor is good as the Mother of the family, even though she really isn't in the movie much. There's also a nice amount of blood and gore in it, which is a given considering the directors. The movie is definitely an improvement over the last TCM (which I thought was terrible), but like I said it doesn't actually feel like a TCM movie until the end, so don't expect much chainsaw action until the last bits. I'd give it a 6/10.

lacked a grindhouse feel but was a fun watch. one of the better prequel/sequels.
the kids on the run made me think of the power rangers if there were anti power rangers.
