I just came here to publicly say I'm not even interested in watching the trailer. The first movie was bad enough...

    **EDIT**

"JANUARY 2015" = RIP January is the graveyard for films studios want to just dump off to the public.

I enjoyed the first one just as mindless, campy fun. But the second was meh and to be honest this third movie looks pretty meh too. :elstare:

Movie turned out to be an improvement over the second film, but considering how bad that flick was, it's not exactly saying much. The storyline with Neeson on the run is interesting, but predictable and there are a couple scenes that require the viewer to seriously suspend disbelief big time. Otherwise, it's somewhat enjoyable to an extent if you're in the mood for a mindless action flick. I'd give it a 6/10

Yeah, I'm with FM here. It's an improvement in the series. Which is really saying something, considering the third movie in a franchise is usually the horrible one. Neeson is still throatpunching everyone talking with a funny accent withing a 2 mile radius but It's a good movie, and if you liked any of the previous movies you should see it. Just don't waste money on it. I think Axxo already has it up and running..soo, you do the math.

Also, a quick thought. Did anyone notice a recent influx of action movies with Russian mobsters as villains?

Russian villains plays into a long-standing tradition here in the States and plays well in Western Europe I'm sure, or at least the UK where there's a deep mistrust of Eastern immigrants. From what I've seen and read, they're the Mexican boogieman that so many Red State types fear are taking all the jobs and welfare over here. There's also been a lot of Mexican bad guys on TV and in movies here, usually just labeled as "cartel". I don't think you could do much of an Italian mob movie these days without slanting it towards humor or making it a period piece.

Yeah, I know. I'm probably reaching here, but here me out.

Equalizer- a peaceful loner gets someone close to him hurt by the Russian mob. He then turns into a "one man army"- esque unstoppable killing machine with a vengeance.

John Wick- a peaceful loner, who gets beat up and someone close to him killed by the Russian mob. He then turns into a "one man army" esque unstoppable killing machine with a vengeance.

Taken 3- a peaceful loner, who gets someone close to him killed by the Russian mob. He then turns into a "one man army" esque unstoppable killing machine with a vengeance.

All 3 movies were released within the last 6 months, 2 of those 3 movies will almost certainly get equally ridicilous sequels.
