The romance would be a smaller side story because Marvel feels that the romance stuff and the origin story is played, something I happen to agree with.

Each of those articles mentions a stand-alone Aunt May movie Sony was proposing...are you fucking serious? I consider myself a Spider-man fan and I would never even consider watching an Aunt May movie.
Here's a fan-boy wish list of films I'd love to see:
Idea 1 - A two Part story encompassing Venom and Carnage...Spider-man: Enter Venom and Spider-man: Maximum Carnage. These wouldn't necessarily follow exact comic story-lines but pull in some of the best parts of both the early Venom stories and turn him into a murdering anti-hero and the creation of Carnage and eventual team-up of Spidey and Venom as they have to take him down before Carnage murders half of NYC.
Idea 2 - Spider-man: The Sinister Six. I know this was where the current films were heading but those were terrible...so a good version of the Sinister 6 lead by Doc Ock with a complicated ingenious plan that ends in a huge cliffhanger and leads into...
Idea 3 - Superior Spider-man. This was maybe the greatest Spidey story in a long time. Spoilers for those who don't know what the Superior Spiderman is.
Spoiler...
I absolutely loved the misadventures and temporary successes that Doc Ock had when he was in control of Parker's body. His insane arrogance, and army of minions, and telling the Avengers to piss off were all highlights.
