As I kinda expected from the trailer--this wasn't a good movie. The storyline is almost non-existent, but obviously this isn't the type of movie we watch for the story. That leaves the characters and action.

Salma Hayek is pretty awesome in general (and still hot as hell), but her character (much like all the characters in the film) are so poorly written that you really don't care much of what happens. Especially when it's pretty clear early on that she's somehow some sort of unstoppable killing machine. The action was decent, but as long as they didn't use any CG, because whenever they did it was really badly done (except for maybe one scene). Luckily director Joe Lynch is more of a fan of practical effects, so we get a decent amount of blood splatter here and there.

Unfortunately it seems like Lynch tries a little TOO hard into attempting to make this a "fun" action film, which is reflected negatively in many ways, from the atrocious dialogue and obvious cheap set designs to the quirky "assassins" that seem more idiotic than charismatic. To top things off there are some pacing issues throughout the film, mostly when there wasn't much action happening. That's normally not a problem if it's integral to the story, but in this case it's not and when you set an entire film in one location (her apartment) you not only grow bored of the dialogue, but of the location as well, specifically if that location is clearly a set.

    5/10
