The Austin Film Festival submission deadline is so close… it’s scary.

Don’t wait! Submit your film to our Dark Matters category.

We’re looking for films that are easily identified as belonging to the horror, thriller or sci-fi genres that

embody dark themes, unconventional subject matter, or suspenseful sensibilities.

Each year the category is judged by industry A-listers, who in the past have included filmmakers like

Mick Garris (Writer/Director/Executive Producer ofMasters of Horror) and Leigh Whannell

(writer/producerofSawand Insidious). Checkwww.austinfilmfestival.comfor updates about this year’s

jury.

In addition to the cash prize, travel and hotel reimbursement, and the bronze typewriter award the

winners receive, every filmmaker accepted into AFF’s film competition will receive attention and press

during the Festival. Each year many of our selected films go on to find distribution, including last year’s

Dark Matters filmThe Living, which was recently picked up by Monterey Media.

Our early bird deadline isApril 20th, and the submission fee is $50.

If you submit online through our website (not Withoutabox) you will receive $5

off:

We hope to see your film!
