This is why I don't go in blind anymore. I always do research before jumping into something, especially if it's an indie film, which is where all the decent horror seems to be now.

    YAY!! It is, it is!

Yet another shot from 31 featuring Father Murder (Malcolm McDowell) and Sister Serpent ( Jane Carr) during a rather calm moment in their secret 31 hideaway.

I agree. Most of the latest horror films to be released over the last decade are either found footage or some sort of haunting. The only films I thought we're good out of this bunch was The Conjuring and Sinister. I'm hoping since we are getting new Halloween, Friday the 13th and Texas Chainsaw Massacre films that they will be the ones who reboot the slasher genre. The Town That Dreaded Sundown remake or whatever it is, was a step in the right direction.

I think Krampus is my most anticipated horror flick this year.

Yep. Not the only - but probably the main reason why I watch fewer and fewer horror flicks these days.

I'm ancient enough at this point where i've seen the horror staples we all love countless times over the years. I'll still watch them on particular occasions or events or whatever, but for the most part they're tucked away in the Solo drawer of memories - only to shake off those moth balls and blow away that dust when those inner demons of nostalgia come a callin'. Happens less and less as time rolls on though sad to say.

Usually focusing on the Indie stuff at this stage of the game.
Some surprisingly original, decent flicks out there gives some much needed hope - a hope that's all too often on life support, and in short supply........ and that prize in the cracker jack box keeps getting harder and harder to find.

I still stand by Foreign flicks currently being the most creative and well rounded when it comes to horror flicks....though they do have their turds as well...I just watched one. Rigor Mortis...to slow for me.

Indie flicks are pretty shitty as well. The ones I have watched on Netflix are horrid, some I can't even sit through.

Agreed. Although I love low budget 80's/90's horror films, a lot of these newer indie films that come out are just really really bad. People go crazy over them, but I don't find the appeal whatsoever

    Yup, pretty much exactly this.

Just because it's an indie flick doesn't give it a pass for being shit. Great, someone nobody has ever heard of made a movie on a shoestring budget. Good for them but I won't give the movie a pass if it sucks, which a majority of them do.

The low budget flicks from the 80's and 90's did things differently and were self aware (for the most part). The low budget indie flicks these days are made with a swagger of "This is my art!", take themselves too seriously and manufacture dog shit.
