    The Visit (2015)

New found footage flick from M. Night Shyamalan

The Visit focuses on a brother and sister who are sent to their grandparents’ remote Pennsylvania farm for a week long trip. Once the children discover that the elderly couple is involved in something deeply disturbing, they see their chances of getting back home are growing smaller every day.
    http://www.upcominghorrormovies.com/movie/sundowning

The movie was originally said to be a "dark comedy" but it doesn't seem that way from the trailers. I like the concept, but wish it wasn't done in this tired found footage format.

What I find interesting is that poster. Are they REALLY trying to use The Village as a selling point

I was on board until I realized the found footage aspect. Terrible. Also just reminds me of The Taking of Deborah Logan.

Saw this earlier today and.... IMO its a massive improvement to his other recent efforts.

So basically there isnt much to say about it that you cant grasp from the trailer but briefly two kids go to visit their grandparents and their weird behaviour gets stranger and more sinister as the week goes on.

I wouldnt say its particularly scary maybe jumped once but its def tongue in cheek and you will LOL at a few points. Cant really say much else other than as it is Shyamalan you know what to expect but it kept my attention, its a suitable length and i found it actually had some heart to it (theres a story and a message that underpins it all which actually packs an emotional punch) 7/10

Shockingly good flick and I'm not just saying that because I went in thinking it was simply going to be shit, it really is good. It is oddly funny while building up tension at the same time. There are some truly good payoffs that happen so fluently if I think back I could see Shamalangadingdong was working on it from earlier in the film. I think the cinematography is what makes this movie excel though. Again it is strange to have some genuine humor while at the same time being a bit creeped out. But the shots are beautifully and expertly done. Many times I found myself checking out the imagery beyond the characters on the screen fully expecting to see something.

Unlike his past few movies the laughs here are intentional and solid. It is almost like laughing at yourself the way they pull it off. The story is something you have to sell yourself to but as a whole it works. I ended up really enjoying it as did my daughter and I will definitely give this another watch.

I'll go a half tick higher than linzlu 7.5/10

I really think The Sixth Sense is a very good movie. Signs is a pretty fun movie. I will have to check this one out.

This had a good balance of tension and comedy. It's not a 'found footage' shaky as i feared it would be, but more of a steady-cam documentary style with some of those shots mixed in. I've not enjoyed a M. Night movie since Unbreakable/Signs days so i'd say the biggest twist for me was that it was an enjoyable 90 minutes from start to finish.

Movie was alright. Interesting, with some creepy bits and funny stuff here and there. Some pacing issues in the middle, but things picked up big time by the 3rd act when stuff was finally revealed (which was somewhat surprising). Definitely didn't need to be found footage though. Overall I'd give it a 6/10.

That sounds about right 6-7ish/10. I enjoyed it a bit more as I really liked the way Shamalangadingdong telegraphed some scares and set up the twist. Surprisingly the found footage aspect didn't bother me but in retrospect I don't think it was necessary and couldn't tell you if it would have been more enjoyable if it wasn't.
