Big Trouble In Little China Remake (Dwayne "THE ROCK" Johnson)

    http://www.joblo.com/movie-news/dway...ttle-china-166

The writers of X-MEN: FIRST CLASS, Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz, are already on board to write the script. Dwayne Johnson will play Jack Burton, the role which played to perfection by Kurt Russell in the original, an All-American trucker who gets dragged into a centuries-old mystical battle in San Francisco’s Chinatown.

Can't speak for everybody else but this fucking guy...

    Whats next?

Will he play Fred Flinestone in a Flinestone remake? How about Barney the Dinosaur? Why not Rambo in a First Blood remake? I mean, is he really THAT good or is it the simple fact that everything he's been in for awhile now makes a shit ton of money? I know, a bit obvious but...

I'd take 20 more Liam Neeson films over this guy. That said, I'm not being forced to watch his movies either. He's just over saturated. I mean yeah, back in his days of wrassling, he was money on the mic and that's obviously translated well into the big screen. He's been way more a success than Hogan ever was in crossing over into legitimate film business but it's too much I think. I sort of just expect him in everything these days.

That said, it'll slow down. Everybody starts losing money for studios eventually, he'll be no different.

Dig the original and I'm open to a remake. I like The Rock as well, so I'm sure the film will be entertaining at least.

I don't care about the rock, but the effects are going to be completely half assed.

Effects are the least of my concerns. Although most of BTILC were practical effects they weren't good, especially the red haired beast. That was a cheesy mask with rubber foot covers that screamed HEY LOOK HOW FAKE I AM.
The main concern I have is the overall ambiance of the film. That is what makes it special for me. Carpenter did a an amazing job with that world and made it feel very personable. Everything from the music
to the cinematography and the costumes are what made it work.

Although I love Johnson, he wont be Kurt Russell. For this to win over fans of the original it has to be original itself.

This reminds me, I haven't watched the original in years. Time to get on that.

Well Kurt Russell supports this and there is hope he may reprise his role as Jack Burton (even if a small cameo) as it is now
reportedly a sequel rather than a remake.

I really hope it's more sequel, a remake would be nonsense.

Agreed. However what really makes me smirk a bit is JC's kind of standofish "good luck" comments.
Really Mr. Carpenter? What of relevance have you done since....uhh...hmmmm....Vampires?
