Yeah it's all rumors right now since nothing official has been released, but if it is true I'm sure more concrete info will be revealed sometime soon. Either way, I thought the remake was pretty terrible.

The thing of it is Nightmare on Elm Street was successful because there was some originality to it that gave the horror film industry something it had sadly been lacking for sometime. Sure you still had Jason and Michael, but the audiences had been complaining for sometime that the storylines were getting to be very similar to each other. Fans were screaming for something original and NOES at that time was indeed that something the audiences were looking for. We are now back to the screaming for something original, and remakes / reimagings aren't what is going to make the cut. Mainstream needs to take a leap and make something as sick, twisted and demented as some of the independents out there have done, but then there's the MPAA to worry about that'll more than likely step in and totally screw things up. Possibly a revamping of the ratings guidelines maybe in order that are definately antiquated. Other than that I do believe fans are getting extremely tired of reboots, and any plans to do so will lead in failure

I believe that there could be another great Freddy Kruger. The most iconic horror performance of all time is Bela Lugosi as Dracula, who cemented the now cliche look for the character, but Christopher Lee was able to be a good, strong Count because he didn't try to be Lugosi. Freddy is a character worth giving another shot, so I'd be down for another crack at it. If it doesn't work, then the movie is forgotten about shortly and won't make any slight against the original (not entirely great) series of films.

Shit yeah. Im down for another New Nightmare. They need to handle this franchise and Friday and Halloween just like how Childs Play handled theirs. And thats Fuck the Whole Remake trend, just make a proper sequel!
Now I know with NOES it can be tricky to do a proper sequel seeing how it would need Bobby Englund to reprise Freddy. Where as Michael and Jason aren't Dependent on a charismatic speaking actor to bring their Characters to life. That being said I still think we can at least another trilogy out of Mr. Englund. And Yeah,Yeah I know the guys almost 70 yrs old, but Shit Angus Scrim is damn near 90 and he just reprised the Tall Man for a fifth time. Hell Even Doug Bradleys almost 60 and hes coming back for another go around as Lead Cenobite/Pin Head. And at the very least Robert Englund is truthfully at the age that Wes Craven originally envisioned for Freddy. So Fuck Yeah Im Down! Bring this Shits On! Just do it right!

The last Child's Play was direct to video, though. Hollywood logic is that they can only use actors that have recently been in a big hit movie. Jackie Earle Haley was in Watchmen the previous year, so they picked him to play Freddy. Robert Englund hasn't been in a hit movie for decades, so even though he's a fan favourite he won't sell to the mainstream audience (again, this is Hollywood logic, not mine).

This might sound crazy, but tap Johnny Depp to play Freddy. It could be a cool tie-in, since he was in the original and was killed by Freddy.

I say just leave it alone.

But if we are going to throw out names on who can play Freddy I'll say Michael Keaton

That being said. Im pretty sure this is confirmed and in pre-production as we speak..... why they feel the need to reboot the series again, i have no idea. But i really hope they bring in a writer who can do dark comedy.

I guess the idea now is if the remake doesn't sell as well as they hoped it would to justify relaunching it as a franchise...just make more remakes until it does...aka throw enough shit against the wall, eventually some of it should stick.

So pathetic...I don't even care...they can't erase the original series...it still happened...I still enjoy it...let them continue with this nonsense...I certainly won't pay to watch it.

In my opinion the remake was made to be too serious, maybe it had to do with the dumb plot. My gripe was not with Jackie Earle Haley, the actor to replace Englund. My gripe was more of a combination of the following; a simple plot, inexperienced director making a debut, and too many boiler room sequences.

they do not need a mainstream actor to play Freddy! This movie will only be good if Freddy is played by Robert E! It is his mannerisms that people want. Ask anyone outside of us who doesn't know horror all that well but still enjoyed the movie who played Freddy. No one would know and no one would care. As long as his over the top comedic self continues to rape peoples dreams that is all they want! Jackie to me was to serious. Which is way I think this one failed. "He looked more like a burn victim." great I could careless. The tone was to serious and it tried to make the franchise something it was not.

Haley did play in watchmen but his face was covered was it not? so mainstream or not I could careless if he played Freddy. He was not convincing in the least! Freddy's face is burned so you cannot really make out who it is anyways through looks. It is all in how the character/actor carries himself and I am sorry I see no one coming close to it than Robert E.

sorry I will not get off his N U T S but I stand by it.

I'd honestly be up for another NOES sequel. Doesn't have to be England, but it does have to be someone the can mimic what we all expect from Freddy as a whole. Need good writers that can get back to the source material and not try to do something unique with the character. Expectations from the fans and the audience will definitely make or break any future sequels in this franchise. To the best of my recollection I haven't seen the remake / reimaging of this franchise yet.........need to get on the ball

I didn't totally dislike the remake, but Jackie is no Robert. I guess I just don't get on board with remakes. It felt like any other generic update of an 80's classic.

The remake is good, they just should not have tried to copy scenes from the original like Freddy coming out of the wall. I like the new angle of making Freddy a child molester and the question of whether he was innocent or not. Old Freddy had a good run but those movies are too cheesy by today's standards of horror.

Anyway, I would like to see maybe a prequel or something that goes back to the original concept of Freddy being a creepy old hobo, like the one that scared Wes Craven as a kid. They could even bring back Robert Englund as he is old now, and would actually make a perfect Freddy.
