I loved Outlast but the one issue I have with how this one is looking is the battery management is back.
It got a little tedious in the first game but this one looks to really up the atmosphere and I WANT to see the gorgeous world they have created.
Alien Isolation had the same sense of helplessness and dread but without night vision and battery management so you got to be more in tune
with the environment around you.

The battery management is all part of the survival horror aspects of Outlast.
Alien: Isolation takes place in future space so it has an excuse for its advanced tech and non night vision, while that works in its own right, it doesn't create enough challenge for the player besides the worthless guns and only half the configured crap you use to divert the Alien, most of the stuff you make you're only using it to open doors and you end up wasting more time making useless devices along the way, but it can get away with it because it's a sci-fi/horror action game done well.
Outlast's found footage style is highly inspired for both the story and character stuff (when your character writes notes after filming) and the battery-collecting and night-vision are great where it immerses you into the experience of much more realistic tension and suspenseful terror especially when you are given no weapons to fight off your enemies and can make night-vision environments interesting for a challenging survival experience kind of like Manhunt with less silliness. (AI's with shitty depth-perception)
Alien: Isolation gives you more options and more refined stuff for gaming, which is fine, but refined isn't scary.
Outlast does limit your options but not in an unfair and annoying way, that in of itself makes it much more terrifying.

Agreed, I'm not disliking the fact it's part of the game from a gameplay perspective. I'm disliking I'm not really getting a chance to take in the environment and how meticulously detailed this sequel seems to be over the first. Huge fan of Outlast and I can't wait for this. I just wish they introduced something new (which they very may have) to let you see their handy-work.

I don't really like games where all you can do is hide, but I enjoy watching videos of other people playing these types of games

I agree with you Fright. It is hard for me to play solely survivor games. this series so far has been fun though.

This is on sale on PSN and got it for 8 bucks.
The content of this game is INSANE. I cannot believe they
got away with the shit that is in it. Antichrist, dead babies...insane, insane stuff.
With that said I have played a good hour or so and I only shit myself twice. Well that I know of.
