    The Darkness (2016)

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

One of the worst horror films ever made. Avoid this crap fest at all cost...boring, dumb, and UNscary. What a waste.

Kevin Bacon sucked too which was surprising.

Movie was pretty bad. The first hour was pretty much just a family drama, while the last 20 finally turns into a horror flick.

Until that point we have the annoying teenage daughter that spends most of her time screaming and throwing up in containers (to store under her bed)
Then we have the autistic son that constantly stares at nothing, tries to kill his grandma's cat and sets a wall on fire (and the parents just shrug it off)
And we naturally have the stereotypical oblivious father that tries desperately not to cheat on his wife (again)
Lastly we have the wife/mother who has to deal with all this nonsense to the point that she feels the need to start drinking her troubles away.

Yep, basically a drama about a troubled family for the first hour, but we do occasionally have a door open and a faucet mysteriously turn on (ohhhhh creepy) Last bits were seriously rushed. Movie offered nothing remotely creepy or scary, was just a lot of nonsense. Will have a more detailed review soon.

I thought it was pretty funny. Particularly the last shot.

I think it's funny how the filmmakers thought faucets turning on and all the shitty hand prints would be scary

It's not a bad movie. The subplot about the Native American mythology was interesting, and should have been explored more. The demons looked cool. I liked the idea of them bringing out the darkness in people.. but they also could have done more with that. More of a family friendly PG horror.

Pretty generic also, but it did have some cool shots. Greg McLean has a good eye for visuals.

I guess it could be worse for my parental units. The neighbors autistic son wanders into the yard every couple of weeks or so and loves to throw piles of leaves or grass into the air or pull all of the petals off their flowers. Hope this isn't a foreshadowing.
