So the x men spin off film new mutants is a psychological horror film

And itvlooks pretty scary. They are doing something new with the super hero genre and it looks really good. So I am listing it here because it is indeed a horror film.

I like the idea of a X-men/Marvel horror movie like this. Looks good so far

I have read this film may have been inspired so e of the darker storylines that the comic book did sometimes. That sometimes it switched up genre's. I haven't read the comics like I said but it sounds like it is keeping true to the source material in some ways

I'll have to watch it first before I place a full judgement on this. It looked very interested by the trailer. I'm just hoping they have some type of back story to this and they'll have a follow up story to back up everything. It'l be quite interesting to see this in a new light and not just your typical action adventure super hero movie. It's always nice to change it up a bit instead of sticking to the same old story.

I cant see how. They were basically XMen Team D. Held extremely similar stories and crossovers.
It seems the new Deadpool is closer to the New Mutants source material than this.

    Hype hipster article.
So, what they are basing this on is a 3 issue series. Realistically there's barely enough material there for a 90 minute movie, let alone a potential trilogy. So what are they going to do? Continue this story or completely change the tone of future the New Mutants? Because while yes, that 3 issue series may be a bit "horrorish", that is not tone of the New Mutants. the other 397 issues are pretty much the same as XMen in tone, setting, feeling, ideas and characters.
ITs important to remember this is Fox, a company who has fucked up every comic IP they have ever had.... as someone who has read many of these comics im wiling to give them credit for 1 1/2 movies... Logan and they get a half point for XMen 2. But aside from those, they never seem to "get it" when it comes to comics and they have proven damn incapable of not being able to take liberties with story or characters. One could say "Well Deadpool was great!" And it was, but i'd say thats as far from a Fox production as it gets. Not only did they not want to produce it but they wanted nothing to do with it and simply let creative people who loved the original source material, go to town.

I guess the one positive note is writer/director Josh Boone does seem to genuinely love 90s marvel comics. However the flip side of that coin is that he has next to zero experience as a writer/director and im sure Fox will have "creative" suits around him at all times forcing him to change everything.......... think fantastic four.
