I disagree, I think the cinematography was fantastic and the world building beautiful. (but yeah the CGI alien effects were terrible)
Spoiler...Especially the mini alien that came from the chest...ugh horrible

I enjoyed from what I've seen. For some reason Prometheus held so much potential and I loved the way it built up with all the suspense and loved the color, lightening and the character development. The sequel was great, I just felt as if it was a little bit too rushed for me. I plan on watching the Alien series again and then go back to watching it later in the future because I've always been a fan of them.

One of the biggest assumptions about Covenant seemed to be that with a wave of the hand, the Engineers were annihilated and made extinct. This didn't sit with me as the humanoids on the planet didn't really look like the Engineer in Prometheus, and also seemed primitive, unless we consider they were just of a different caste or something.
According to Ridley Scott, the Engineers will indeed return for the next movie, provided we get one. I really hope we do as I'd like to see this story through to the end, despite their flaws I enjoyed both Prometheus and Covenant.

“They’ll be three or four different players coming in to investigate. One of which will be the Engineers arriving back to find their planet decimated. I think those ships come and go on regular intervals. I see them as the gardeners of space.
Where we go next is obvious. We’re gonna actually go to the planet. In so doing…I’m not going to tell you the story!”

Watched it. Not impressed. Actually, found some of it boring. I may try a 2nd watch at some point. Very disappointed because the trailers were so good

Disappointing movie overall. Some iffy pacing and CG, along with some really bad writing. I dug the new Neomorph alien, but there simply wasn't enough of it. I like Prometheus better, because at least they tried to do something different, whereas this just seemed like the same old. I'd probably give this either a high 6 or a really low 7, can't really decide. I suppose if I did halves it'd be a 6.5. Either way

Yah, ive seen this movie three or four times now and i think i gave it too much credit after the first time i saw it.
In fact after my third or fourth viewing (which ever one i just did) i think im done with Aliens as long as Ridley is at the helm. I decided to watch it again after i saw the latest episode of Re-wind and they were talking about how Ridley seems to have a bit of George Lucas in him, where he does not seem to understand story or characters anymore. This observation was mostly in reference to Blade Runner and how no one thought Ford's character was a replicant but over time Ridley convinced himself of this and is now stating it to be true. Which oddly enough suggests he does not understand how important it is for him to be human. I think this is shinning through with Alien and how he is attempting to make some nonsensical overlaying story about creation and gods and he's created such a complex idea that only really makes sense to him, that he's lost it all. He has no idea wtf makes a good alien movie at this point. He's still an amazing director, it just seems you cant let him get around ideas.

It's sad because it seemed like he was headed in the right direction with Prometheus, giving us interesting new ideas and answers to certain questions, but then he lost confidence in straying too far from Alien, thus Alien: Covenant

I didn't think it was a bad flick, but overall it's a disappointment in the Alien franchise

I saw this for free months ago, and it's okay. It's not a patch on the original. But then again, both this franchise and the Predator series went downhill over the past 20 years. The Predator is out next year, so who knows if it'll be as great as 1 and 2 are.
