Horror for People That Hate Horror

Sooooo I've been stuck on this idea for awhile now and want to see if you guys have any ideas. I was thinking of trying to make two general lists of horror films for people that don't really like horror movie. One that is heavy on plot but with no gore. The second with heavy plot and very little blood. Here is what I have so far:

    Heavy plot - no gore:
    Nosferatu
    The Bad Seed
    The Invisible Man
    Dracula
    Frankenstein
    Creature from the Black Lagoon
    The Mummy
    Phantom of the Opera
    Hunchback
    Rope
    Psycho
    Mr. Jones
    Monster Squad
    Jaws
    Paranorman
    Cape Fear (1991)
    Fire in the Sky
    John Carpenter's The Fog

    Heavy plot - little gore:
    The Witch
    A Bucket of Blood
    The birds
    Bad Ronald
    Taking of Deborah Logan
    Stuck
    Pontypool
    Fright Night
    Horns
    The Faculty
The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane
    Rosemary's Baby
    Race With The Devil
    Silence of the Lambs
    Jacob's Ladder
    Manhunter
    Near Dark
    Poltergeist

    Any feedback would be awesome

Great lists, but you forgot the Hunchback

Of course the older films relied more heavily on plot/story than they did blood/gore.

Like, so many people out there were trying to track this down. And it just...got delivered on a tweet. What the hell.

"The individual's rights will be protected only so long as they don't conflict with the state."

    “Watch your thoughts, they become words;
    watch your words, they become actions;
    watch your actions, they become habits;

watch your character, for it becomes your destiny.”

Added and yeah getting more modern films with more plot than blood is more challenging than I thought.

Might actually be Heavy Plot - No Gore... been quite a few years since seeing it. Either way a classic.

Totally forgot about Rosemary's Baby but you guys are right. Devil's rejects may be a bit too much considering blood is the biggest bitch I hear about horror.

That has been on my too watch list for years. Seems like as good an excuse as any to pull the trigger on it

    Make it so.
This flick really is all about the story and tension as opposed to blood or gore. It's a dark, suspenseful, and very brooding film.
It's one of those rare ones for me that had me thinking about it after watching it for awhile.
Never quite looked at tea the same way again.

edited the other post. '76 not '74.

R With The D is 70's cinematic gold. You can easily substitute the antagonists in the flick with anything more traditional - thereby replacing the "horror" element, and for the most part everything would play out the same.... as most of the movie plays out as an action flick anyway.

Race With The Devil is one of the Solo's all time greatest hits, and easily Solo Shelf of Fame material.

Poltergeist (1982 of course). The only gore is the face ripping scene in the bathroom. Still king of the haunted house movies.
