There's lots of ways this movie can go, techno-sci-fi, environmental/country protection, small scale heist/political espionage.
The director/writer Ryan Coogler is great at character development and emotional story telling (as seen in Creed). I'm hoping it's smaller scale with more contemplation and sneaking than just smashy-smashy. However, being the film JUST prior to Avengers: Infinity War they might try to squeeze in too many cosmic and other MCU connections.
I loved Chadwick in Civil War and thought his character arch was one of the best in that so I'm looking forward to this

The movie looks pretty awesome, there is quite a bit advanced technology in the trailer, not sure which way it will go

After that there is no way this can possibly NOT go down as one of the best superhero flicks. Incredible!

Just saw it last night and it was a great movie. It's a social political espionage action movie. Typical hero story with a healthy dose of James Bond sprinkled in. The visuals were amazing, right up there with Doctor Strange in terms of originality and style. The CGI is sketchy at some points. Acting is great with Michael B. Jordan standing out. The political themes can be a little heavy handed but it's great to see a big Hollywood production that actually has a stance on something. The women in the movie are super strong and cast against stereotypes which is nice to see. The only negative I'd give it would be the story points are a little too samey to previous Marvel films (Iron Man, Ant Man, Thor, Doctor Strange).
Overall: Good fun at the movies I look forward to Infinity War and more Black Panther

Copying and pasting my thoughts as originally posted on rogerbert.com (spoiler-free):
I thought the first two acts were outstanding. Performances were excellent across the boards, the story was intriguing, the visual design of Wakanda and its various provinces were gorgeous and the tech was creative. And I thoroughly enjoyed the none-too-subtle digs at right wing-ism in general, and the hate-monger currently making a mockery of the White House in particular.
But once the villain arrives in Wakanda, I felt the movie loses steam. It sets us up for an intensely personal final conflict, then completely overshadows it in favor of yet another of those Big, Loud, CGI-Heavy Action Sequences that mark the final acts of most MCU films to date.
T'Challa and Killmonger first do battle on a stunningly beautiful waterfall cliff. I think it would have been better if their final battle had occurred there instead. No suits, no tech, no CGI armored rhinos or virtually piloted aircraft. Just the hero and the villain, armed only with their opposing ideals, powerful fists and indomitable wills, duking it out in a setting which you could say visually symbolizes the cleansing fall of a corrupt regime.
Eh, maybe next time. 3/4

Decided I am going to wait for a torrent of this. Seems like super standard intro Marvel film fare.

Yeah character intro movies are pretty difficult to do with originality. I'd love it if they upped the Bond elements in sequels and made him a spy-thriller character. Like they did with Cap in Captain America 2 and turned Thor 3 into a sci-fi fantasy comedy.
The political stuff they kept in makes the movie stand out a bit but in the end he still has to fight a "bad" black panther much like Iron man had to fight a bad iron man, Cap had to fight a bad super soldier, antman had to fight a bad antman...etc

A bit late, but I finally caught the movie. Pretty fun flick. Over 2 hours long, but definitely didn't feel that long. Interesting story, cool characters, and some really neat tech. Can't wait to see the battle in Wakanda in the next Avengers 8/10

Finally saw this one, Chadwick is actually a hometown star. Anyway I agree with everything Fright said. Now on to Infinity Wars. I've heard mixed reviews about this one.
