    Metro: Exodus

New Metro game coming out next year for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC!

Flee the shattered ruins of dead Moscow and embark on an epic, continent-spanning journey across post-apocalyptic Russia in the greatest Metro adventure yet. Explore the Russian wilderness in vast, non-linear levels and follow a thrilling story-line inspired by the novels of Dmitry Glukhovsky that spans an entire year through spring, summer and autumn to the depths of nuclear winter.
    From wikipedia:
Metro Exodus is set in 2036, on a post-apocalyptic Earth that has been devastated by a nuclear war over 20 years ago in 2013. The game continues the story from Metro: Last Light's "Redemption" ending. The player assumes the role of 22 year old Artyom who flees the Metro in Moscow and, sets off on a continent-spanning journey with Spartan Rangers to the far east. Artyom first travels around the Volga River, not far from the Ural Mountains to get a ride on a locomotive known as the "Aurora" that heads east for a new life. The story takes place over the course of one year, starting in harsh nuclear winter in the metro. Another major character, returning from the previous game and the book Metro 2035, is Anna - who is now Artyom's wife.

I'm a big fan of the Metro series, so I'm really excited about this long-awaited sequel. And it looks pretty great so far from the footage shown at E3

Looks like a worthy successor to one of the most overlooked and under appreciated post apoc game series ever. Those who've played the 2 previous Metro installments know the score.

Just beat the game and wow, what a ride. The game is quite different from the previous installments and seemed slightly more story driven as well, leading me to feel more emotionally attached to the characters and what happens in the finale.

I don't want to spoil too much, but I will say that you spend more time above ground than any other Metro game and because of that it has an open world-type aspect to it. There were even times when it legit felt like I was playing a new Fallout game because of all the exploring I did and the look and feel of the environment at times. I spent a majority of my time using a stealth approach as opposed to my usual run-and-gun, which made the game more fun and challenging, especially if you're on a harder difficulty.

Since you spend so much time on your own and exploring they've done away with traders and you're now able to find and craft items, so instead of finding currency you find a lot of scrap to collect throughout the world. I kinda missed traders, but this crafting approach was more useful with this type of lone-wandering open world. There were a bunch of different creatures and a variety of different enemies as you progress, so it never felt like you were encountering the same thing and made every new encounter either scary, interesting, or tricky.

Overall it's a really well done game and one of the better, if not, best Metro games from the series. Story wise it's definitely the best. If you've played the other games then I highly recommend checking this sequel out and especially recommend going in knowing very little (as I did) because you'll likely enjoy it more and find the new aspects and surprise storyline twists much more satisfying. If you're new to the series you can still try this out, especially since it's differen't than the previous installments, but it's best (especially storywise) to mess with some of the earlier games first.

I'd give the game a high 8/10. It's a great game to start out the new year with and hopefully the next game will be similar to this one and they continue with the open world aspect.

Not sure. I had one of those PS4's with the faulty HDMI port that ended up going bad after awhile so I don't have a system ATM other than my 360 Slim.
Never got around to replacing it yet. May end up going with the Xbone when I do because i like the idea of the backwards compatibility it has so i dunno yet.

Honestly, all the current generation of consoles are worth picking up. Not sure of the financial situation, but they all have their positives and negatives. I prefer Xbox because of my history and my gamerscore, but you're not missing out on anything going from one to another.

Edit: With that being said, if you're into what looks best graphically, for a console the Xbox One X is the clear winner.

    Good to know.

I originally had the PS4 fat, but the fan noise was unbearable, and with a lot of the more demanding games you just knew you were going to have to kick up the volume to compensate. Either the fan was the issue with these models, or the design. Whichever it was it got fixed with the slim. Sound level was cut back anywhere from 50% to 75%, and often times i'd barely hear when the fan kicked in or even not at all. Other than that I was happy with the PS4 - until the HDMI issues started up...

I haven't been in a rush to replace anything yet because I don't game nearly as much these days as I did when I was younger, and because TBH there's just not a consistent stream of games being put out there that I have much of an interest in playing to begin with so I don't think about it too much really until something like the latest Metro comes out. Either system will probably do the job satisfactorily, but i'm diggin' the idea of playing the older games I have on the xbone. As far as I know PS4 still doesn't offer the BC feature or do they?

So I went back to the game after the 2nd DLC came out, and since I never played the first DLC I had both to look forward to. The first was pretty short (I think maybe just 2 hours of gameplay or a little less), depending on how fast you go through it. I liked to look around a lot, so I took my time. It was fun and offered a nice story, but there wasn't much to it. However, this recent DLC titled "Sam's Story" was great--you play as the American from the group "Sam" who goes off on his own after the events of Exodus, so it takes place sometime shortly after the end of the game. Sam wants to go back to his home of San Fransisco, so he reaches the edge of Russia somewhere in search of a boat. This essentially opens up a whole new area for us to explore, and depending on how much you explore and if you take your time stealthing and search for secret stashes, I'd say gives a good 7+ hours of gameplay. It also offers a nice story for this Sam character. If you've beaten the game, now is the time to come back and play the DLC's, if you've never played the game, DO IT NOW.
