    DVD vs Blu Ray

Did blu ray win? I still can't find tons of horror movies on blu ray. DVD still seems to be tops in 2018. Yes or No?

Pretty much dvd won. Honestly I never saw much of an improvement in video/audio to warrant paying a few extra bucks for the disc. I do own quite a few bluray but dvds far outnumber bluray by leaps and bounds.

Like, so many people out there were trying to track this down. And it just...got delivered on a tweet. What the hell.

The reason i asked is. I sold all my dvds about 7 years ago and quit collecting movies all together. I decided to start back up and checked out walmart and Mega replay and they both had tiny blu ray sections with no one shopping them. Could not find any info on it by searching, so i joined here to find out. I have bought a lot of blu ray, but so many good movies are not out on br. Like Bad Taste, Dead Alive or The Chidren of Ravensback.

Bluray still has a lot of catchin' up to do as far as the library of movies on the platform goes. I personally stopped collecting both DVD and Blu's a while back and now only collect VHS. I mostly collect since they're normally found really cheap and I love the nostalgia. Plus hunting for VHS in stores is pretty fun, especially if you find some really rare stuff

I went to dvds because it saves on space; I used to collect vhs but takes up far too much room. Now I need something smaller since dvds are getting a bit out of hand

Blu-Rays are nice, and I'll buy the new releases on Blu-Ray, but for older movies, I tend to stick with DVD because I can get movies on DVD for a lot cheaper, and they're much easier to rip on my hard drive than Blu-Rays are.

I watch most of my movies on a 150" projector. The difference between blus and dvds is VERY evident if the distributor does a good job with the new blu transfer. I go for the "best available copy" when I look for a movie. I don't go exclusive one or the other. As of right now I own roughly 2:1 dvds to blus, but the blus keep growing and growing thanks to disc makers like Scream Factory, Arrow, and Vinegar Syndrome.

    What's the best physical format?:
Right now it's blu ray. It has the highest quality (picture and sound) potential. If a movie is offered on multiple formats 9 times out of 10 I go for blu.

What format has the most releases (horror)?:
DVD. It still has the most titles available, and while many VHS never made it to DVD, they're still being released today (though smaller companies now rely solely on blus)

What Format has the best cover-art?:
    Laserdisc mother-lickers!! Super badass!

What's the best way to get the best version?:
Collect em all!! I've got dvds, blus, betas, laserdiscs, vhs, HD-DVD, and even a UMD
