I'm seeing so much negative reaction to this and I cannot see why! I feel the same way when I see people say how horrible The VVitch was for them.
Makes me scratch my head a bit but in the end everyone has different likes and dislikes.

For me this movie is outstanding. It stayed with me long after seeing it and the way I felt watching it was unnerving.
That's what I want with my horror movies these days. Quality. This movie is fucking quality! No cheap thrills.
A true honest to goodness original story. Great acting and dialogue. It creates an atmosphere that is brooding and palatable.

Slow does not mean bad. It may not be your cup of tea but that does not mean it is a bad movie. Shitty dialogue, shitty writing,
a plot that makes zero sense, Captain Spaulding...all this makes a bad movie!

Jay says it best in the Half in the Bag episode. It hits all the festivals and gets great reviews and then it hits the theaters and people hate it. They're too used to jump scares.

Personally, I thought it was fantastic. I'd give it a solid 8/10. It's not perfect by any means, but a great horror film with equally good acting.

I saw it yesterday, it had a super intense sense of dread. Like you felt some fucked up shit was coming and the end really delivered. Despite a couple uneven performance scenes I liked it.
