Welp, Bethesda put this teaser up today



According to Fallout 3, Vault 76 was one of the control vaults. So, they were one of the 17 vaults that didn't have some weird experiment attached to it. It was also set to open 20 years after the bombs fell. Which, explains the banner saying "Reclamation day!"

Everything else we will find out during E3. But, so far I am pumped. We could get a glimpse of what the world looked like so quickly after the bombs fell.

There is a rumor that Fallout 76 may be kind of like how New Vegas was to Fallout 3. Also another rumor that this could be an online only game, maybe an MMO, but everything is up in the air for now.

I can see an online Fallout eventually happening, but I doubt that this is it. I've been waiting for a New Vegas type game to come out and this seems to be going that direction. I can only hope we get a lot of good and interesting quests and missions and not just basic busywork that we received in the last game.

More rumors swirling around that the game is like a Rust clone, with a focus on base building and online multiplayer. Hopefully that's proven false, because the focus on base building in F4 was one of the things I hated about it

I also hope it's false. While I enjoyed the base building, there wasn't much to do after you built it up. I just found my characters glitching out half the time and walking around at night time instead of sleeping in a bed. With a cool potential story they have here, it would be a shame if it's an online game.

Hi. I'm Jason Schreier, from Kotaku. I had forgotten how... passionate the Fallout community can get. After I reported on Fallout 4's existence in 2013, people here first spent two years calling me a liar, and then when it was confirmed, they just yelled at me for "spoiling the surprise." But hey, I'm also a big fan of the series, and in fact may or may not have just started replaying Fallout 4 on my PC in the wake of this week's news.

I've seen a lot of rage and confusion (and denial) on this subreddit so I just wanted to chime in to say a couple of things. One is that, after publishing my story, I heard from a few other sources (in addition to the three mentioned in the article) corroborating that Fallout 76 is an online game. If you're really still in denial, I guess you can wait until June 10, but hey, don't say I didn't tell you.

The second thing is that I'm very optimistic about this game. The buzz I'm hearing (both first- and second-hand) is that it's really cool, interesting, and just as story-focused as any other Bethesda Game Studios game. It might have multiplayer and base-building, but hey, it's still a Fallout game. I don't want to drive hype for a game I haven't seen or played, but I also don't want people to be so closed-minded that they spend the next nine days freaking out every day on Reddit because this game isn't going to be like the last three.

I mean, how many of you remember when hardcore Fallout fans flipped a shit because Bethesda was making a first-person shooter?

I think that in retrospect I shouldn't have tweeted that anyone expecting a traditional single-player Fallout will be "very disappointed" -- really, I should have said that they'll be very surprised. I wanted (and still want) to make sure people's expectations are calibrated accordingly.

Short version: Yes, Fallout 76 is going to be a multiplayer RPG. No, that's not automatically a bad thing. Just like all of you, I'm stoked to see the game on June 10, and I'm optimistic that it's going to be really cool.

I don't really see how it could be story heavy and still be a multiplayer game, especially with a focus on base-building. If it were an MMO I could maybe buy into it a bit more, but right now I'm really skeptical.

I'm assuming that is where it may go. If it's an MMO then they can really expand the lore and perhaps keep it interesting. If it is though, I may need some time to play it because that could be fucking outstanding.

I hear the Elder Scrolls online is pretty fun and if they can translate that to an mmo, then I'm kind of sold. But anything else..like a battle royal type game or just a general online rpg and no thanks.

Well, Jason Shreier is a massive dip shit, along with the rest of Kotaku. Not saying he's wrong on this one, but I'm going to wait to see some concrete/official proof before I care too much about it.

Now, I suppose to be fair, I should apply the same to Fright's image above, but if that one is true, it would definitely be steering back in the right direction. I didn't play Fallout 4 yet because I heard of all the changes they made steering it away from things I liked about Fallout 3/New Vegas. Will eventually pick it up when it's dirt cheap, but I've got plenty of other games on my plate right now.
