Looks like it could be fun. I've always been a big fan of him (especially in the Power of Shazam graphic novel and series), and especially when he was still known as Captain Marvel. His sister, Mary, is also a great character, and Black Adam is one of my favorite super villains. Unfortunately, I dislike the direction they went with him and the others in the New 52, but that's something I'll have to live with, as I'm sure they'll take more from it than pre-New 52 with this movie, but we'll see.
Either way, looking forward to this.

This was a fun flick. It was a little odd having it walk a fine line of very kid friendly to at times being a bit too dark for what the rest of the movie presents. It was funny throughout, no pacing issues, and a very long climax that kept the crowd cheering the whole time. I really enjoyed it.
The tranquility of night hides many malevolent things taking place under a stunning, mysterious sky pocked with precious gems of light. -GP

Just going to copy and paste my take from the non-horror movie thread...
A mixed bag. There are enough laughs (not all of them big) and action (only some of it inspired) to keep you from falling asleep, but the story is disjointed and the primary emotional sub-plot involving Billy Batson's search for his birth mother is hugely anti-climactic. Zachary Levi is appealing enough in the lead, though he sometimes seems to forget that under all that muscle (make no mistake, he got big but there is still a clear amount of padding involved) his character is only supposed to be 14 years old. Mark Strong's evil Dr. Sivana is so generic as to be incidental.
What some moviegoers may not know is that this hero's name is actually Captain Marvel, not Shazam. And much like Marvel's own Captain Marvel movie, this flick both lands and stumbles in more or less equal amounts. 5/10

I thought it was ok, the humor doesnt land all the time and they could have cut out a few mins of the "superhero training" it felt like we got 3 or 4 "I should do the right thing" moments and one less would have moved the film along a little quicker. The villain was good with clear goals and a menace throughout though I did have some problems in spoilers. Overall I enjoyed it a little more than Captain Marvel but not by leaps and bounds. I'd rank it on the higher end of the DCEU movies like Wonder Woman but mid tier compared to the MCU.
6/10
Spoiler...When the evils are released they were all pretty generic monster designs and were all basically dull grey smoke-monsters...same as doomsday, same as aries, same as suicide squad...need to change it up DC it's as bad a stopping a giant blue laser into the sky at this point
