Dead Cells (PC, PS4, Switch, X1)

Figure I start a topic for this since a couple of us are playing it. If you haven't heard of this game, well they're calling it a "Metroidvania" type game where it kind of combines elements of Metroid and Castlevania. The big grab for this game though is the perma-death. Here is a neat little animated trailer below



I bought the game for $25 and I'm having an absolute blast with it. So far, the farthest I can reach is around 40 minutes into the castle. There are upgrades along the way, and some permanent upgrades that survive even if you die, but once you die, you go right back to the beginning. Thankfully they start you off pretty quick. I try to do a few runs here and there during the week and I just got done putting in a couple hours since I don't have work tomorrow. It's a pretty perfect pick up your controller and play couple runs kind of game.

The Castle though an Elite took like more than half of my health away and it seems that you have to fight him.

Man, there is an area called Forgotten Sepulcher and it's crazy. Gotta stay by the light and if you don't, your health goes down. I found myself racing through that place. Took three potions and a lot of running and dodging and I still couldn't get passed it

What are you using as your secondary or do you switch out?
Im not sure which bow it is, but i got a purple bow that ive upgraded a couple times, shoots three pink lazer things and drops a bomb every... 4 seconds i think? Its pretty pwnage.

You switch out every time. But I mainly go for firebrands. I mainly rely on my skills though. I jack the damage up for those and let them do all the work. Almost beat the castle today. The difficulty completely ramps up for there

Finally beat the Hand of the King. Time to do it all again on hard mode

Just beat the Hand of the King for the second time with a boss cell active. That was difficult. Onto two boss cells active now

I picked it up..playing it slowly..kind of lost..not following the story really...controls are nice and smooth fun as hell though!

Haha there isn't much of a story. But the game play is what keeps getting me back to it.
