supposedly telltale is in financial trouble

Lots of news going around lots of mixed stuff coming from the developers that have worked there what is known is that all but 25 people have been let go leaving a small team behind, most of their projects have been cancelled and rumors that the final season of The Walking Dead will not be fully completed. It's sad news it's quite a shame what is happening to a great developer who made some great games.

    Long time coming.
They stretched their resources wwwaaayyyy too thin when they started making 3, 4, 5 titles all at once.

I played Walking Dead and GoT. Liked'em both, though Walking Dead was obviously their money maker, or so we thought. I read that ep 2 of this final season is all we're getting out of the 4 we were supposed to get. Luckily I didn't buy the game otherwise I'd be pretty pissed.

What im wondering is why they are not simply releasing the other two episodes.
They have to have them done, there's no way they are not already 99% complete.

There may be some hope yet, at least for Walking Dead anyway. This was recently posted on Tell Tale's twitter page:

    Right.
So this is super confusing to me as to why the publisher simply didnt allow them to finish up and release them all. The final month to three months of a game release is mostly marketing. From a development standpoint, its simply adding driver support. The episodes are finished, we know they are finished and whats funny is a publisher is going to swoop in and capitalize off this. They're going to invest very little and get a profit. this just makes no sense to me.

Yeah they tried way too much and their games all seem very "samey"

I loved Back to the Future, Batman was good, and I never started Tales from the Borderlands but plan on getting to it eventually.

I think the biggest problem here is the targeted fan bases. Your average gamer probably didnt give a shit about these games. TWD came out when TWD was at its height so obviously the appeal would be more mainstream. But with the rest of them..... i like Batman but because im not a diehard fan if i play a batman game its going to be one of the Arkham games. I don't crave batman enough to play one of these games based on his character... TWD on the other hand, IMO these games are better than the show. But i get why non-TWD fans wouldnt play them.

This is starting to look really, really, really, really bad for Telltale.

Agreed. Nothing against the company (at least, maybe previous to everything that's going on), but their style of games never appealed to me. For one, I'm not a fan of episodic games released in parts over a long period of time. I may eventually get to it when all the parts of released, but by then, I've usually lost interest. Their TWD series never interested me because I'm just not the biggest TWD fan out there. I'm a big Batman fan, but as you said, if I want to play a Batman game, I'm going to the Arkham games. Same with Borderlands.

Shame to see their company in trouble, but as you also said previously, they just continuously kept biting off more than they can chew by taking on so many projects that all play like each other.
