I am even more excited for it now. I am SOOO going to trick my GF into thinking this is a superhero movie. She is going to be pissed.

The idea is like a novelty. That said, I'm sorry but that little punk doesn't scare me.

I saw it this weekend (two other people in the theater with me) and I really liked it.

    A few notes:
1.) This is not like a James Gunn movie. There is very little humor and any of it that is present is just background that only comic nerds and superman fans would likely pick up on.
2.) It. Is. BRUTAL. Holy shit the gore was so unexpected and violent, kudos to everyone behind the camera for not giving in and making this a lame PG13 film
3.) Most of the acting is done well, the kid was good as were both parents and most of the supporting cast, though some of his classmates were horrible shitty child actors.
4.) The plot was exactly like you are expecting (Superman but evil)
5.) They were smart with the special effects, being a lower budget movie they kept a lot of the crazy stuff hidden from the camera and used practical a good amount.
6.) There's a lot psychologically going on with the kid and I enjoyed that aspect, you really get to know what's going on in that head of his

Overall I liked this as a standalone "Lets make a superhero movie but he's evil and this is a horror film" it was a great change of pace from the normal superhero stuff we get 6 or 7 times a year. That being said I also tried to imagine how this would compare or fit in with the actual universes that are out there and I can see this character actually working in the DC movie universe.

Comic fans know DC has bad versions of the Justice league known as the Crime Syndicate that pop into the JL's universe every few years (or reboots) to cause some chaos. This kid could easily be an "Ultraman" to battle whoever takes over for Cavil as Supes. I know they'll never cross over since Sony owns BB and WB all the DC stuff but it's funny that even a studio like Sony can seemingly do DC's own material better than WB can.

    End Credit scene:

    Spoiler...
The shot in the end credits has some of the only humor in the movie featuring Michael Rooker as an Alex Jones type screaming about other super powered villains corresponding to the JL equivalents.

I loved it for all the reasons Strtfghtr explained, it was well-done Super-Horror movie that's refreshing in a world plagued by over-blown superhero movies and I thought some of the bits that could've been major flaws in the movie I took them to be more of a subtle gradual reveal without having to over-explain so much and it works as its own thing and using its low-budget to its advantage loved it. I give it a 9/10.

I will say it was kind of depressing when the audience I watched it with at the end thought the movie was "just okay", nothing against people's opinions or anything but all I could think of was "I don't understand what it was they were all expecting".

Honestly, I've been somewhat hesitant to watch this, but I might give it a shot if I can find a little free time in the coming week. Heard really positive things from some people, so it's apparently hitting the right spot for them.

Watched this earlier--liked it to some extent, but felt it was rushing through things a little TOO fast. It seemed like he discovered his powers and became evil almost immediately. I would've liked a little more character development at least, because I didn't care about any of the characters. And there are a couple scenes that make no sense, like the dude going back into his truck and driving off after he just got home Either way, I really liked the concept and the kills/gore were solid. I'd say it's a decent watch overall. I'd probably give it a high 6 or a low 7
