Evil Dead Rise (2022)

Plot: A horrific story about two separated sisters whose reunion is cut short by the arrival of flesh-eating demons, driving them into a primordial war for survival against the most terrifying kind of family imaginable.

I mean I am always down for more Evil Dead. I do not and will not go in with high hopes but I have been surprised by all the other Evil Dead stuff that has been released in the past years. I know Raimi is obviously on board and writing along with Lee Cronin who will also be directing this flick. Apparently Mr. Cronin was hand picked by Raimi to write and direct this one. That is a fuckin honor!?

It does seem weird the setting will be making it's way into the city and away from the cabin we all love so damn much. I also read that the protagonist will in fact not be Ash...I honestly do not know....mixed feelings but we shall see. Currently it is in post production and is slated to come out in 2022

Bruce Campbell will not star in this flick. I believe his only ties to it is being a producer for the film.

Sad that Ash won't be in it, but I'm open to the idea of the book simply being passed along to different people and the urban setting is really interesting. The idea kinda reminds me of Bava's Demons 2.

I want more Evil Dead for sure. I could wish for a more serious approach tho, now that Campbell isnt starring in the film, it could be less heavy on the slapstick humor. Not that I mind some decent goofiness, but it seems perhaps more fitting of the Bruce Campbell character we know and love.

I mean he's a producer on this. He also produced Crawl, Ash vs Evil Dead, Evil Dead remake, Don't Breath, 30 Days of Night so he has some good stuff in the last couple decades.

He also produced some shit like The Poltergeist remake, and The Unholy so I'd say hes more hit and miss right now.

Out of everything you listed I only really enjoyed Don't Breathe and thought Crawl was decent. I just feel that his name is attached to things to hype up projects, but they're mostly let downs.

I pretty much agree. This all started with Wes Craven though after Scream. His name was tied to countless piles of steaming garbage as if it meant the movie was going to be great. After Scream it was like every
other horror flick was "Wes Craven Presents" and I pretty much knew it was going to suck.

I did not hate is as much as a lot of people did...that being said I would not jump right back into it either

Movie was good, but was also disappointing in certain aspects. Specifically, they set it in an apartment building in the city (which I liked), but they fail to utilize it. In fact, it might as well have been set in some secluded cabin or house because that's what it felt like since it only focused on a handful of characters and mostly stayed on only one apartment/floor almost the entire time. I was hoping of maybe a Demons 2-type scenario where a bunch of different characters have to deal with a small army of Deadites, but nope. Aside from that, it was enjoyable. 7/10

This is where I am, still a decent move, though not as good as the rest in the series.

That still makes Evil Dead the best horror series IMO. Even the weakest one is still decent.
