First official poster/look at the aged mask
I was sent some info from a source that supposedly caught a test screening of the film a few days back. Assuming it's accurate, they detail some interesting information about the film. I'm not posting it on the site since I'm not 100% sure that it's legit and even if it is I'll probably be forced to remove it, so I figured I'd just share it here. Naturally some spoilers ahead:
Spoiler...
There are a lot of stalking scenes, and you can't tell the difference between JJC and Nick Castle. He also said that the first time Laurie meets Michael - it was probably Nick and that it's very different than how they meet in H20. He said he was very in line with H1 Michael, but definitely more brutal in a sense. He also confirmed that they are not siblings in this film, and the entire film takes place in 2018.
He spoke of a really cool sequence: Imagine that upon Michael’s return to Haddonfield on Halloween night, he goes door to door and murders random people in their homes. Now imagine that this is done in a single shot lasting minutes. He also said the acting was good all around, really loved two teenage characters. Laurie's relationship with Karen and Allyson is really important in the film.
Adding... sometimes it felt like a horror drama, but that only added to the dread and impending doom in the film. Confirmed Laurie is the lead, but there are a lot of characters in the film - and they all get their fair share of screen time. Act 1 features Michael unmasked for the most part, however, you never see his face. Explained how he got his mask (SPOILERS) - two people who run a crime podcast ended up getting the mask from an evidence locker, and Dr. Sartain brings them in to see how he reacts. I will not go any further than that.
He also said that the film was very dark but the Halloween atmosphere wasn't as in your face as H4-H6, but definitely there. Quite a few kills that happen off screen - out of frame, but also some very graphic murders - some that happen in succession in the same scene. Tons of easter eggs - Speed Kills sign by the school, kids wearing Halloween Shamrock masks from Halloween III. He also said it's the best Halloween sequel (he loves the original and liked H20).
On the topic of Dr. Loomis: It looms heavier than H20, but not hugely. I’d say this movie is more about Laurie as a character than even the original film was, and that leaves less room for the people connected to Michael.
