Off the top of my head the two Vampire Hunter D films and Perfect Blue are good. Dante's Inferno: An Animated Epic and The Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Fury are alright. I'm sure more will come to me eventually

Elfen Lied (good, gory, supernatural, very well done), Attack on Titan (amazing anime), Highschool of the Dead is good but has fan service throughout, that is partially the point of it, nonetheless I enjoyed it. Kind of hard to recommend horror anime despite having seen tons of it. I'll add in more if anything else comes to mind. Kurozuka is a weird but pretty good supernatural anime, very interesting art style in it, has violence and gore throughout. I will try and remember more good ones.

Only one that comes to mind is Heavy Metal.
The tranquility of night hides many malevolent things taking place under a stunning, mysterious sky pocked with precious gems of light. -GP

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow from 1949 and if you want to include stop motion animation, A Nightmare Before Christmas. Can't think of many more off the top of my head.
