The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist

    Synopsis of The Enfield Poltergeist:

In August 1977, single parent Peggy Hodgson called police to her rented home in Enfield after two of her four children claimed that furniture was moving and knocking sounds were heard on walls. The children included Margaret, age 13, Janet, age 11, Johnny, age 10 and Billy, age 7. A police constable saw a chair slide on the floor but couldn't determine if it moved by itself or was pushed by someone. Later claims included allegedly demonic voices, loud noises, thrown rocks and toys, overturned chairs and levitation of children. Reports of further incidents in the house attracted considerable press attention and the story was covered in British newspapers such as the Daily Mail and Daily Mirror, until reports came to an end in 1979.[3][5][6] On Halloween 2011, BBC News featured comments from a radio interview with photographer Graham Morris, who claimed that many of the events were genuine.[7]

I really can't wait for this one. I have seen a few documentaries on this file and read at least a half dozen books. The war of words between a few skeptics and non-skeptics is as entertaining as the events themselves in a few books. I actually did a lot of research and reading into this a few years ago and have become quite knowledgeable of all the goings on here. Bottom line in real life is 50/50 if what took place was actually real or a hoax. After all I have read I would put it at about 70% of it being real and not a hoax. The evidence that the skeptics use to debunk what happened here is all assumption and some outlandish claims of what this little girl was actually capable of doing to make this a hoax. Some skeptics interviewed and that were presented with evidence come off as individuals that would call their own dead grandmother sitting next to them and talking about things only they know some sort of trickery.

You should make sure to see The Witch! That could most likely end up being the best horror flick of 2016.

Some fans remain skeptical of Ed and Lorraine Warren and the credibility of their stories. Either way I enjoyed the first Conjuring movie and will look foward to a sequel with James Wan.

There are skeptics for EVERYTHING. Skeptics try harder to disprove things than the people that are reporting on such things say it is real.

I'm getting the jitters I want to see this so badly.

Apparently this flick will also show some of Amityville!

The way I think this will play out is an Amityville segment will start the movie off in the same way the Annabelle segment started off the original.

I don't really see the hoopla about the first one. It was good, but nothing special in my opinion. Maybe I have to watch it again.

I loved this fucking movie! First and foremost Wan is a genius behind the camera and his direction is flawless. He knows how to play an audience and uses this skill to perfect how to set the tone for a film of this nature. You think you are telegraphing what he is doing then he throws something totally different at you, this is what makes his films special and what makes The Conjuring 2 just as good, if not better than The Conjuring (which I love).

Just like the first this one opens up with another case of the Warrens', a little place called Amityville. I'll leave it at that, don't want to ruin what we are shown and how it pushes the Enfield case and/or how they are intertwined.

There are two halves of this film, the first half shows the family dealing with the haunting in their little London flat while the Warren's are here in the states dealing with their own "demons". Only at about the halfway point do Ed and Lorraine fly over The Pond at the Church's request to see if this is a hoax or real. The way this plays out is the result of excellent writing, acting, and I have to say it again Wan calling all the shots.

The movie is downright chilling. There are a few scenes that will be talked about for quite some time, especially how they are played out and executed. The camera work during these moments is nothing short of remarkable. Wan sets up the audience at will with the focus on the foreground and a blurry background. Even when you think you figured out where a scene is going, it never ends up how you think.

The first time Ed and Lorraine attempt to debunk the little girl creating the voice on her own is filmed so perfectly, and played out so brilliantly I found it hard not to smile yet feel chilled to the bone at the same time.

I'm still living in the moment of seeing this. Sitting in this crazy-ass theater with speakers literally covering the walls, and ceiling and a sold out crowd that was also a star of the movie as far as I am concerned may be persuading my perception a bit but I am confident in saying this is easily one of the best haunting/possession movies I have ever seen.

I'm leaving a bit out here on purpose because a minor slip up here or there can potentially be a huge spoiler.

I don't apply grades to my "reviews" but this movie is excellent. Any fan of the genre should make every effort to see this in the theater.
This is horror done right. No doubt this will suffer from the usual negative comments simply because it is so "mainstream" and there are those out there that think doing that is cool and hip. But for me, this flick is part of the cream of the crop and Wan should be cemented within the Masters of Horror hands down.
