    John Wick 2

Lionsgate official confirmed that a sequel to John Wick is in development. Star Keanu Reeves, directors David Leitch and Chad Stahelski and screenwriter Derek Kolstad are all returning for sequel.

"With such tremendous fan and critical support for ‘John Wick,’ we knew that there was still so much more of this story to tell,” said Jason Constantine, President of Acquisitions and Co-Productions at Lionsgate in a statement. “We are thrilled that Keanu, David and Chad have re-teamed with us and promise to bring audiences even more excitement the second time around."
Really dug the first film, so I'm looking forward to seeing a sequel. As I said in the original John Wick thread, I think a sequel or prequel could work, especially if they go on to explore more of this Assassin underworld.

I don't know. I actually love the first one and feel like it told its story, I don't think there's more to tell, I would hate to see this great talent complete waste everything they have on a rehashed sequel, I suppose diving into the secretive world of assassins is a cool idea, I just don't know what kind of story there is to tell, but I suppose I could be wrong, I hope I'm wrong, I look forward to seeing what they bring to the table.

John Wick is criminally underrated. It was an awesome action film. Common was a bad guy in "run all night" he made an ok hitman with no emotions

I just watched John Wick again the other night, fucking LOVE this movie! I hope the second delves deeper into the world of hitmen/women. That aspect of the first was awesome in what they showed.

    Additional details have been released.

Keanu Reeves returns in the sequel to the 2014 hit as legendary hitman John Wick who is forced to back out of retirement by a former associate plotting to seize control of a shadowy international assassins’ guild. Bound by a blood oath to help him, John travels to Rome where he squares off against some of the world’s deadliest killers

They have included Peter Stormare and Laurence Fishburne (a character named The Bowery King) which is awesome tying into some Matrix roots!

I still remember the first time I saw the club scene in the first one. The way he shot his way through the club with that raging techno music had me smiling from ear to ear.
Now THAT is a badass scene

Kind of missing the point I think. The dog was a gift from his dying wife, it was his lone link to a normal life, the woman he loved and quit the assassin world for.

    JOHN WICK: CHAPTER TWO

Ah, now this is what you want to hear about, am I right? It was certainly the one that pinged the most on my radar, especially after the first one kicked all forms of ass. Keanu Reeves stepped out to introduce our first peek at the film, which takes the titular badass assassin to Rome where he seems to find himself in trouble yet again, this time squaring off against the likes of Common and Ruby Rose with returning (surviving?) characters Lance Reddick, John Leguizamo, and Ian McShane popping up. We also have a MATRIX reunion with Reeves' former co-star from that franchise, Laurence Fishburne, showing up as an ally that helps arm John up to take out the trash.

We're treated to all the stuff we expect to see in the sequel, including explosions, gun battles, shattered glass, hand-to-hand battles, car chases, bike chases, and numerous sequences of JOHN WICK methodically taking out bad guys in his signature no-bullshit, hardcore style. And then some. At one point, Wick says "Whoever comes, I'll kill them. I'll kill them all." Ah, you gotta love it. This could easily turn into a continuing franchise and it's the closest thing we have to the old-school action flicks of the '80's but with a modern intensity in the action department.

Actor Ian McShane spoke a bit about the sequel, saying:

Well, I’m kind of the only one left from the first one. This is same kind of premise. It’s not like two years later, but pretty soon after the first one. Keanu [Reeves] is a great guy. They got this terrific Italian kid, Riccardo Scamarcio, who plays the chief villain, who’s excellent, and we have a lot of stuff together. And the guy who directs it, Chad Stahelski, is really smart. He’s been Keanu’s stunt guy for [nearly] 20 years and he’s studied muay-thai. He’s got every stunt man who’s available for [this film]. The action looks like it was done by somebody out of Hong Kong instead of Hollywood which I always think is a great sight.

Keanu gets a new dog. But yes, it’s about what comes on him after that. It’s all about the assassin’s code, if you like. He’s killed a Russian gangster and now there’s a contract out on him, so it’s a continuation. I loved the first one. This could be even better than the first.

I like how it seems to be playing off Winston's line in the Continental bar where he tells Wick "You dip so much as a pinky back into this pond something may just latch on to it and bring you all the way back in."

Obviously that something is killing off Viggo and his son (fuck, basically his entire empire).

For me John Wick could be the biggest surprise from any genre in the past few years, I love the film!
Every scene oozed style even down to the way the subtitles were handled.
The scene between Wick and Francis is one of my favorites. It's so simple but the way it was handled
shows yet another side of Wick and how he is regarded with those who know him and/or of him.

    "Hello Francis."
    "Mr. Wick."
    "You've lost weight."
    "Over sixty pounds."
    "Yeah? Impressive."
    "You here on business sir?"
"Afraid so Francis. Why don't you take the night off?"
    "Thank you sir."

    Fucking classic!
