    magGot Films { films that kill }

Michael Todd Schneider, also known as "maggot" is probably best known for his role as a serial killer in the film 'August Underground's Mordum', which has that nice little gut-fucking scene. But there's alot more sickness, he's also a director, spfx artist and actor who's worked on almost a dozen films, most notably: I Never Left The White Room, My Crepitus and Let’s Make… A Horror Movie; so this thread is my sort of dedication to those films and future productions, by magGot films.

Brief Bio: “…akin to smashing your teeth into the coffee table for ninety minutes.” The first words on Schneiders work by Rue Morgue Magazine was regarding his debut feature, My Crepitus. They classified a style that would evolve over time, some have called it: surrealist psychological retro-gore. Being awarded Best Cinematography and Best Horror Short shocked A Tribute to Sanity to New York International Independent Film Festival screens. The notorious and confrontational August Underground’s Mordum was hailed an instant classic. Banned from the public, Grotesque Fantasies is an experimental documentary following Schneider and fiends on their artistic exploits. Combining 80’s horror themes with an elaborate film process called Life-O-Vision is Opening the Mind. Continuing to venture back to the way films used to be made, …And Then I Helped is a splatter romp set in 1976. Let’s Make… a Horror Movie combines all learned into one autobiographical experience that blurs the line between celluloid and reality. A cerebral collaboration with Tyler Tharpe (Return in Red, Freak) brings two stories into an exploitation popcorn haven with DOUBLE DOSE OF TERROR!!

Schneider has also spent the past few years supplying his assets on such notable features as G. Cameron Romero’s The Screening, Revenge Is Her Middle Name, Return in Red, Gallery of Fear, Bigfoot at Holler Creek Canyon, Chrome Baby, The Wickeds, Two Front Teeth, House of Honcho, Scarlet Rain and Multo.

A true auteur of award winning disposition, Schneider’s distinguishable versatility rooted itself out of necessity and limitation. A bold director, writer, editor, actor, cinematographer, special makeup effects designer, sound designer and experimental musician. Schneider is an invaluable creature of the film industry, creeping about while leaving neon traces for all to follow."

Newest film, with a cool new promotional teaser.

Although a bit ambiguous to outside viewers, the relationship between Mr. Ben and Sydney is quite healthy. They lead separate lives away from each other, able to devote personal time to their hobbies. Mr. Ben buries himself in his studies while Sydney goes out and parties, super-70’s style. No worries, they always begin their day with a meal and end it with a prayer.

My Crepitus = I Never Left The White Room

My Crepitus was the early and working title for the movie and then it became I Never Left The White Room.

Also his most recently finished movie, ...And Then I Helped will be making its world premiere at Rue Morgue's Festival of Fear with cast and crew there. The movie will be followed by an event hosted by writer Gore-met called "Underground Auteurs" and it features Michael 'Maggot' Schneider, Fred Vogel, Bill Zebub, and Greg Lamberson as guests. (In case any Canadian members maybe interested.)

Nice thread, I think it would be worth talking about some of his non-directorial movies in here too like Chrome Baby and Two Front Teeth.

    Revenge is Her Middle Name

magGot Films also provided production and post-production services on the film. magGot has also joined forces as the films editor. Michael Todd Schneider has been cast alongside the talent of Lissa Brennan and Douglas Bell.

Good stuff! Definitely deserves a thread.

...And Then I Helped is without a doubt the best film Michael has made and even worked on (out of the ones I've seen, obviously). That includes August Underground's Mordum, but they're really different so it's hard to know what to compare them on.

I Never Left The White Room is of course a fun little surreal trip, even though it would've been a lot better with a shorter runtime. Would be interesting to see all the early cuts of it, but I can imagine the latest cut is the best.

Chromebaby was one hell of a fun film, that one is all I want from a no-budget splatter. Just a treat!

A Tribute To Sanity... It's hard to say if I enjoy this more than White Room by now, but then it would mostly be because it's shorter. It's an interesting little film, but some of the moments in White Room will probably always put that one higher for me.

Can't wait to check out Let's Make... A Horror Movie (I read the early script, really interesting stuff), Opening The Mind and his segment of Double Dose Of Terror, should be plenty of fun.

EDIT: Grotesque Fantasies is great if you want to learn more about AUM, but it's easy to forget that it is a documentary about more than just AUM.

A little teaser pic-a-roo from Opening The Mind:

The movie was filmed way back and has just been laying around waiting for the time to get edited. I think this will be done in 2011 finally. I'm especially interested in this one because it's the last film from what I would personally call the first generation of magGot films. I believe it will be more in tune with some of his past work rather than Helped, Horror Movie and Double Dose. This movie was started while he was still in Toetag as far as I know, but he left them and Opening The Mind was a film that followed him rather than stayed with them. I've seen a 10-or-so minutes long promo, it looks interesting but I have no idea what to expect from it.

And of course, there is the animated teaser:

My favorite magGot Corner is probably the very first one. After that it's probably the Christmas episode.

    They sure do.

Same here. It's not a bad deal either to buy: I never left the white room + Grotesque Fantasies or Mordum original edit + sketch = 30 $
I'm very tempted but I would like to combine the purchase with "And then I helped", to save on shipping costs. 5 $ for the first item, plus a further 1 $ for every additional item.

I can only talk for "I never left the white room" plus my copy of Mordum = both are DVD-Rs

I'm assuming though that all sold dvds are of that format.

I bought this and went with 'Grotesque Fantasies'. Quite excited about recieving these, plus the drawing an added bonus

I really liked Maggot's character in 'Mordum'...totally crazy fuck

As for being DVD-r or what have you, to be honest I just want the movies...I haven't been this excited about movies before starting to watch UG Horror. I have always loved watching, but not to this degree.
