If you think my opinion is BS, thats fine, but the fact that he's too much of a risk in Hollywood to bank on, thats just the facts. Escape from LA was indeed a big miss on a big budget, but I'm once again, agreeing with most of the sentiment that he's not a draw, he's more a miss than a hit and the underwriters cringe when they hear his name attached to any script.
with Escape from LA, I think everyone involved just want to build a 'franchise' out of it..much like X-men, or insert any 3 -5 part movie deal here (and it was prime for it) Kurt Russell/Buschemi probably ate up most of the money. Russell is 10-15 mil a film on average, and he was coming off a few 'hits' so it had the price tag but the movie when the top two mouthpieces were paid, left him little, and it showed. It looked cheap and he had the hand for making indie budget films, but he needs production money to ever make anything worthwhile.
