No official plot yet, but the original revolved around "a shy teen who comes out of his shell after he buys a ’58 Plymouth Fury to fix up. The car has a mind of its own, as well as a murderous past, and begins to change the young man and everyone around him in most dangerous fashion."

Jason Blum revealed in a recent interview that he has received the script, saying: "We actually recently got a script, which was terrific. We're going to try and make it into a movie. That's my plan." and when asked if filming would begin next year his response was, "Never say never. I'm an optimist." (10/13/21)
Written and directed by Bryan Fuller, who until now has primarily worked as writer/creator on various shows such as Dead Like Me, Hannibal, Star Trek: Discovery and American Gods.
It's said that this will stick to the 80's period setting and will remain close to the novel.
This is a remake of the 1983 film from director John Carpenter, both of which are based on the Stephen King novel.
