PROJECT DETAILS:
Actress Bette Midler offered a brief update on the project, revealing that the script is pretty much finished and just needs to work out all the logistics before moving forward. Here's what she had to say: "Well, you know, they sent a script. And a lot of it was brilliant. So, I got very excited. And now we’re trying to figure out what it is and where it’s going to be and how much it’s going to cost and all those logistical things." (10/20/25)

Writer Jen D’Angelo gave an update on the project, which is still in the ideas phase at the moment. Here's what she had to say: "We're still in the story phase, we're still working on it. We've been working on some ideas, and it's been fun to dive back into that world and we have so many directions in which to go and so many new characters to explore. We've only scratched the surface of Hannah Waddingham's mother witch." Adding... "I'm hoping that we are able to explore every aspect of these stories and take these characters on a bunch of fun adventures. 3 is still very much in the early stages, we don't really know what it is, but we're exploring all options and I think everybody is so delighted by the reaction that Hocus Pocus 2 got, and we're excited to continue those stories." Aside from the fact that this project is in development, nothing else is currently known about it. However, according to an old interview with one of the producers, this movie may follow the new cast of characters introduced in the sequel. Producer Adam Shankman was quoted saying: "[Director] Anne [Fletcher] I think handled [Becca’s character arc] really, really beautifully. We went back and forth on how that was going to work, if it was going to work, forever, and Anne was just like, ‘This is what we’re going to do.’ And I think it’s great. And it creates a lot of excitement about potential spinoffs." (6/6/23)

No word if any of the cast of the previous movies will return.

Despite being almost 30 years since the first movie, the sequel proved to be a success for Disney+ and received fairly positive reviews from fans and critics and was the number-one domestic film to debut on the platform at the time of its release.

This is the third installment to the Hocus Pocus films, which was hinted at in a post-credits scene in the previous movie.
