PROJECT DETAILS:
Henry Thomas and Samantha Mathis have joined the cast. Filming began last week. (8/17/21)

Jackson White (Mrs. Fletcher) is in final negotiations to join the cast as a young Jud Crandall. This would confirm that the film is still a prequel of sorts, despite what recent reports might've indicated. (6/23/21)

Lindsey Beer (Sierra Burgess Is a Loser) is set to direct the film (this marks her directorial debut), which she also wrote, based on an earlier draft by Jeff Buhler. While the movie was announced as being an "origin story" of sorts, now rumors are indicating that it's no longer a prequel. It's unclear what it is at this point, but since nothing has been confirmed, I'll leave it listed as a prequel for now. (5/17/21)

This movie is being developed for Paramount Pictures new streaming service, where it will also premiere the movie.

Pet Sematary remake writer Jeff Buhler (The Midnight Meat Train, The Prodigy) returns to script.

This is said to be an origins story that's reportedly "based on the terrifying and untold chapter from Stephen King’s novel Pet Sematary."
