This Week's Notable Horror: 10/05 - 10/11

The first full week of October is starting strong with a dozen new releases. Tomorrow sees several titles hitting VOD, including the comedy ATTACK OF THE KILLER TOMATOES: ORGANIC INTELLIGENCE, Korean zombie flick COLONY, supernatural sequel INSIDIOUS: OUT OF THE FURTHER, and action thriller ONSLAUGHT.

Attack of the Killer Tomatoes: Organic Intelligence (2026)

REVIEWER RATING:
7/10

I was not a fan of the original, cult-classic 1978 Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, so my expectations for Organic Intelligence were not exactly high. This one, however, is a huge improvement.

Cursed Waters (2026)

REVIEWER RATING:
6/10

I’ve always enjoyed a good pirate movie: bold swashbucklers stirring up trouble across the seas in pursuit of stolen riches, with a thrill of danger and anti-establishment freedom. Add a sharp screenplay and a star-studded cast, and the result is seafaring magic.

This Week's Notable Horror: 09/28 - 10/04

Spooky month is just a few days away, and it’s already starting out strong with close to a dozen new titles to check out. Tomorrow brings the limited theatrical run of the horror comedy DEATHGASM 2: GOREMAGEDDON.

The Leader (2026)

REVIEWER RATING:
8/10

In 1997, 39 members of the UFO-based religious group Heaven’s Gate, including its eccentric leader, Marshall “Do” Applewhite, died in the largest mass suicide on American soil.

Never After Dark (2026)

REVIEWER RATING:
7/10

Japanese actress Moeka Hoshi, of Shōgun fame, stars as Airi, a traveling medium who goes from one location to the next helping spirits pass over to the other side.

Cynthia (2018)

REVIEWER RATING:
7/10

With Scout Taylor-Compton, Robert LaSardo, Bill Moseley, and the late, great Sid Haig in the cast, how could Cynthia be anything but fan-fucking-tastic?

I Have Proof (2026)

REVIEWER RATING:
8/10

James Cullen Bressack returns to his horror roots, and I could not be more excited. The filmmaker behind two of my favorite found-footage movies, To Jennifer and Hate Crime, has delivered another mind-bending entry for the list: I Have Proof.

This Week's Notable Horror: 09/21 - 09/27

More than half a dozen new releases are coming this week, with the majority debuting on Friday. The lone title arriving tomorrow is Eli Roth's ICE CREAM MAN, which lands on VOD. Meanwhile, Friday brings several notable releases, including the slasher comedy BUZZKILL, which debuts on Tubi; the latest supernatural pic FAMILY, which premieres on VOD; and the Japanese ghost movie NEVER AFTER DARK, which hits select theaters.

What Happened to Doris? (2026)

REVIEWER RATING:
8/10

What frightens you most—and what do you do with that fear? Do you hide and hope it disappears, or stand your ground, face it, and push through?
