This Week's Notable Horror: 09/05 - 09/11


We've got a decent amount of releases this week, which will hopefully continue as we get closer to October and our beloved Halloween. Most notably, the anthology film TINY CINEMA expands to VOD, while we get a couple interesting theatrical releases this Friday from BARBARIAN and HOUSE OF DARKNESS. Even if none of those titles spark your interest, there's a handful more new releases, all of which can be found below.

CURSE OF THE KRAKEN
TUESDAY - September 6th (VOD)(DVD)

The crew of a cargo ship at sea find themselves under attack by a giant mutated Kraken, which is turning the inhabitants of the vessel into grotesque sea creatures. Battling for survival, the crew must find a way to stop the beast and save mankind before it's too late.

TINY CINEMA
TUESDAY - September 6th (VOD)

A mysterious stranger tells the twisted tale of seemingly unconnected strangers whose lives will change in incredible and bizarre ways forever. As reality unravels, each person must battle incredible challenges from a multiverse seeking answers on the essential questions of life, death, love, and the fate of our future.

SALOUM
THURSDAY - September 8th (Shudder)

2003, three mercenaries extracting a druglord out of Guinea-Bissau are forced to hide in the mystical region of Saloum, Senegal.

BARBARIAN
FRIDAY - September 9th (Theaters)

In “Barbarian,” a young woman traveling to Detroit for a job interview books a rental home. But when she arrives late at night, she discovers that the house is double booked, and a strange man is already staying there. Against her better judgement, she decides to spend the evening, but soon discovers that there’s a lot more to fear than just an unexpected house guest.

HOUSE OF DARKNESS
FRIDAY - September 9th (Limited Theaters)

Follows a man who drives a woman home after they meet over drinks in a local bar. When she invites him into her home for a nightcap, however, the evening doesn't follow the familiar path toward seduction. Doors creak and lights flicker and go out as the man keeps pushing for romance, even when unexpected occurrences offset his attempts at a romantic connection with this mysterious object of his desire.

MARGAUX
FRIDAY - September 9th 2022 (VOD)

What Margaux wants, she gets. As a group of seniors celebrate their final college days at a smart house, the house's highly advanced AI system, Margaux, begins to take on a deadly presence of her own. A carefree weekend of partying turns into a dystopian nightmare as they realize Margaux's plans to eliminate her tenants one way or another. Time begins to run out as the group desperately tries to survive and outsmart the smart home.

SPEAK NO EVIL
FRIDAY - September 9th (Limited Theaters)

On a vacation in Toscana, a Danish family instantly becomes friends with a Dutch family. Months later the Danish couple receive an unexpected invitation to visit the Dutch in their wooden house and decide to go for the weekend. However, it doesn't take long before the joy of reunion is replaced with misunderstandings. Things gradually get out of hand, as the Dutch turn out to be something very else than what they have pretended to be. The small Danish family now find themselves trapped in a house, that they wish they had never entered.
