Just your monitor crapping out. I have a dot as well, but it's not black, but it's incredibly small and is only noticeable if you look really close. Just don't let it bother you, but if you're still under warranty you can return or exchange it for another.

my monitor = my computer. macbook. i can't stop looking at it, it's consuming my life. fucking little pixels.

That sir, is a Dead Pixel. Common in LCD monitors. Most LCDs will have 1-5 dead pixels, randomly accorss the screen. These aren't there in purpose, thats just how the technology is. When LCDs first came out this was a big issue, and I think a few companies had Class action lawsuits.

You will probably be stuck with it. I have a blue pixel on my LCD at work. Try these methods to see if it fixes it:

if your macbook is still in warranty/applecare I would call them to get it replaced, if it bugs the hell out of you.....

looks like you are loosing some pixels there. It get annoying but it shouldn't take away from your computer's performance.

My moniter also has a dead pixel. Thankfully it's way in the corner of my screen so it not really a big deal. Would suck if it was in the middle.

I got a blue one on mine. Doesn't bother me though.
