No official plot yet, but it likely follows the events of the first movie.

PROJECT DETAILS:
Writers Dan Hageman and Kevin Hageman offered a very brief update in an interview, revealing that the project seems to be stalled or on hold at the moment, but are essentially unable to speak much on what's actually going on. Here's what Dan Hageman started out saying: "It’s stalled right now. We actually don’t know. We wrote a draft, Guillermo [del Toro] had a story direction of where to take it…" then was cutoff by Kevin Hageman before he was able to say more.. "No, we can’t get into it, but we wrote something , and that’s the last we know. We know a lot of people liked it, but we also know that nothing’s happening right now. [Laughs] We’re in the dark with you guys." (7/1/24)

Director André Øvredal offered an update on the project, which has been quiet since it was announced a few years ago. Here's what he had to say in a recent interview: "We have a story. We have a script. We've been working on the script as late as last year and even slightly into this year. The process obviously stopped with the strike — but it's alive, for sure. COVID and then [The Last Voyage of the Demeter] eating up two years of my life certainly put a dent in the progress." (8/4/23)

At the moment there's no word if any of the surviving cast from the first movie will return.

Director André Øvredal (Trollhunter, The Autopsy of Jane Doe) returns to direct.

Previous writers Dan Hageman and Kevin Hageman are back to script this sequel.

This is the sequel to 2019's Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark--the feature film that's based on the series of children's books that focused on tales of folklore and urban legend.
