Train to Busan 3

No official plot yet, but creator Yeon Sang-ho has said the following: "The story that I’m thinking about after that would be closer to “Train to Busan,” where the story will be carried out in a small and restricted space. That’s something that I have in mind currently. So in terms of the genre, you could say that it’s between “Train to Busan” and “Peninsula."

PROJECT DETAILS:
At the moment this project is merely "in talks," as it is not officially in development with the studio, but creator Sang-ho Yeon has expressed interest in pursuing a third installment and given the huge success of the previous films, a third entry seems likely. (11/29/21)

Writer/director Sang-ho Yeon had a recent interview where he expressed interest in a sequel, but due to his busy schedule, it may take some time before he can work on the potential project. Here's what he had to say: "I believe that the zombie genre is very traditional but at the same time, depending on what you bring to that, it can be completely new. Personally, I do have some ideas in terms of further development of what happens after “Peninsula.” But as for whether I will create that into a film, it’s something that I do want to do. However, because there are a lot of productions that I’m working on currently, I’m thinking that I have to sort of organize the ideas and work on what I have to work on." He also goes on to reveal some story ideas he has at the moment, saying: "I would say that — in terms of that universe — they’ll all become related together. “Peninsula” was a post-apocalyptic film that focused on the car chases. The story that I’m thinking about after that would be closer to “Train to Busan,” where the story will be carried out in a small and restricted space. That’s something that I have in mind currently. So in terms of the genre, you could say that it’s between “Train to Busan” and “Peninsula.” (11/29/21)

Sang-ho Yeon returns to script, but it's too early to say if he'll direct.

This is the third film in the Train to Busan trilogy, which follows 2016's Train to Busan and 2020's Peninsula.
