This first full week of May introduces a number of new releases to check out. Within the lot we have the slasher CLOWN IN A CORNFIELD, which lands in theaters on Friday. Also releasing on VOD the same day is the Australian horror flick THE MOOGAI and THE UGLY STEPSISTER. However, if you have Shudder you can find THE UGLY STEPSISTER on there as well. This twisted, high-stakes horror follows Jessica, a woman who wakes up caged and confused, now the prisoner of a brutal, cult-like Order of werewolf-hunting priests. They believe she’s been infected with a sexually transmitted werewolf virus, and their mission is simple: cure her or kill her trying.

THORNS
TUESDAY - MAY 6th (VOD)

An ex-priest working for NASA is sent to investigate a remote observatory that went silent after receiving a mysterious radio signal from deep space. Upon arrival, he discovers the signal has opened a portal unleashing a thorned monster. The former priest must now summon his lost faith to stop the signal from jumpstarting the end of the world.

CLOWN IN A CORNFIELD

Follows Quinn (Douglas) and her father (Abrams), who have just moved to the quiet town of Kettle Springs hoping for a fresh start. Instead, she discovers a fractured community that has fallen on hard times after the treasured Baypen Corn Syrup Factory burned down. As the locals bicker amongst themselves and tensions boil over, a sinister, grinning figure emerges from the cornfields to cleanse the town of its burdens, one bloody victim at a time. Welcome to Kettle Springs. The real fun starts when Frendo the clown comes out to play.

A young Aboriginal couple have just had their first child, but what should be one of the happiest times in their lives turns to terror when Sarah starts seeing a malevolent spirit she believes is trying to take her baby. Is Sarah really being visited by a child-stealing spirit or is she the biggest threat to their family’s safety?
