2 Jennifer (2016)

REVIEWER RATING:
9/10

DIRECTOR:

Whether you have seen To Jennifer (James Cullen Bressack's film) or not, there is still intense appreciation for this group of friends who set out to make a sequel. Note: You do NOT have to see To Jennifer to understand any part of this “sequel.”

Headed up by Spencer (a wicked little ambitious director with the ultimate "creepy" factor), we are led via iPhone 6, into his unwinding madness to find the perfect Jennifer for his movie. His sidekick Mack is anxious to start, unaware of some foreshadowing that plays a hefty part into the gory ending.

Spencer seems harmless enough…a young, energetic filmmaker flying to Los Angeles to create his dream project: 2 Jennifer. His love for James Cullen Bressack’s film To Jennifer has taken over his ambition to impress and solidify his talent with Bressack, whom he claims to have the green light from, to begin this initiative.

Once in LA, Spencer and Mack, discuss the process of casting. While an open call usually includes any and all actors to audition, Spencer immediately pushes the brakes. It NEEDS to be a Jennifer. A Jennifer to PORTAY Jennifer.

Strange? Oh, it gets weirder…

After a long and vigorous day of “Jennifer” only auditions, Mack and Spencer select their actress. Then, the madness begins. You see, Spencer has a few secrets. Unaware to his surrounding friends and new cast, he has different intentions for where this story should go. And of course…casualties will follow.

Close ups on Spencer’s creepy smirks, late night visits to Jennifer’s house, and tons of excuses NOT to call or see Bressack face-to-face has us all wondering…What’s up with this icky guy?

OVERALL:
Don't miss this little gem. Hunter Johnson proves to be a talented force with this horror mark in the unforgiving genre. It’s a bold statement on a fatal attraction level that slowly starts to rear its ugly head to a climactic moment of self-mutilation. It will surely make you wince, but in the most shocking and delightful way.
