R.I.P. Chas Balun (1948-2009)
UHM doesn't normally report on celebrity deaths, however I felt it important to mention the untimely passing of writer, artist, and overall horror aficionado, Chas Balun, who recently lost his battle with cancer. I had the pleasure of getting to know Chas, as he was the artist behind UHM's t-shirt designs and he told me of his health issues while he was working on the second design.
The last time I spoke to him things seemed to be looking more up, but I guess you can never tell with these types of things. I've included the art he did for UHM below. A third unused design by Chas is planned to be printed on a third UHM t-shirt design in the near future. ... read more

The new trailer for the upcoming French action zombie flick The Horde has found its way online recently and can now be seen below. The movie opens in France on February 10th 2010, while IFC Films plans to release it via their on-demand service in the US reportedly around the same time.

Shout! Factory Re-release Original PIRANHA on DVD/Blu-ray
On April 6th, 2010, Shout! Factory plans to re-release this cult 1978 horror film on DVD. Even better yet, you will also be able to experience all this chaos on High Definition Blu-ray! The release comes 10 days before audiences experience Alexandre Aja's 3D remake version in theatres! DVD/Blu-ray cover art can be viewed on the top. No confirmed special features at this time, but given the cover art indicates 2-discs, I can only imagine were gonna have some pretty decent ones! Stay tuned for further developments!

VideoETA and now Amazon.com are confirming a February 23rd, 2010 DVD/Blu-ray release of the new horror remake to the 1983 film from Summit Entertainment. Considering this is an early scoop, I cannot bring you any confirmed special features. Romero's SURVIVAL OF THE DEAD gets US release!
Zombie maestro George A. Romero has finally gotten US distribution set for his latest 'Dead' effort, as Magnet Releasing will distribute the pic under their video-on-demand service a month before the film's limited theatrical run. No set date has been revealed, but they hope to have it out by the Spring of next year.
"George A. Romero is an undisputed cinematic legend, and we’re honored to be bringing another installment of this incredible series of films to horror fans," said Magnolia President Eamonn Bowles.
