A recently divorced father's (Morgan) youngest daughter becomes strangely connected to an antique wooden box she purchased at a yard sale. As his daughter's behavior becomes more erratic, the father senses a dark presence building until he discovers that the box was built to contain a dibbuk -- a dislocated spirit that inhabits and ultimately devours its human host.

Originally had an October 28th 2011 then a January 6th 2012 theatrical release.
Originally rated R for "violence, terror and disturbing images" but they appealed and cut a few scenes to receive a PG-13 rating.
Alternate synopsis: Revolves around Clyde Breneck and his 10-year-old daughter, Em, who purchases an antique box at a yard sale. With the box, Em accidentally releases an ancient spirit that has one goal: to devour her. Clyde must team work with his ex-wife to put an end to the curse.
Actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Watchmen, The Losers, The Resident) stars.
Danish director Ole Bornedal also worked on 2006's The Substitute, which was released on DVD via Ghost House Underground -- Ghost House Pictures distribution label.
Lionsgate will distribute.
Originally titled Dibbuk Box.
Writers Juliet Snowden and Stiles White also worked on Knowing and have more recently been attached to remakes for Poltergeist and The Birds.
Moira Buffini was once attached as writer after Stephen Susco stepped down.
Stephen Susco (The Grudge) was originally set to write the first draft, but he has since stepped down and will only serve as producer.
When this project was first announced in 2005 it was going to be the next film produced by Sam Raimi's Ghost House Pictures.
This is a fictional retelling of LA Times reporter Leslie Gornstein's story "Jinx in a Box," about an antique wooden box purchased on eBay that contained an evil spirit and was brought to America by a Holocaust survivor after World War II.
