7 Days to Live
I first heard about this moving by someone on my message board mentioning that it was actually kind of good, so I decided to check it out for myself. I thought it wasn't a bad movie. Some parts reminded me of The Shinning, because the woman's husband is a writer and moving into the new home was supposed to help inspire him to write more.
It starts off with the couple having to deal with the death of their son. They purchase an old fixer-upper house. Thing seems fine until the wife begins seeing strange signs which apparently counts the days until her death. At first she doesn't think much of it, but when she starts to notice it more, she confronts her husband about it and he just thinks she's going crazy. The question then is, is the woman really crazy, or is this stuff really happening to her?
The special effects in the movie weren't bad. There weren't any scary scenes, but some somewhat suspenseful ones. The acting was pretty good and so was the directing. The plot was somewhat original, but there were a few plot-holes towards the end. What I didn't really like about the movie was the climax. I thought there would be more to it than the way it ended. This film pretty much borrows things from What Lies Beneath, The Shinning, and Poltergeist. It's interesting from the start, but rather predictable. I would have given it a lower-rating, but it kept me interested and I enjoyed some of it. They shoulda done more to the end though. Oh wellz.
OVERALL
Not a bad direct-to-video. Interesting, but borrows from a few films and is rather predictable. Has its moments. The ending needed more work. Check this movie out if you got nothing else to rent and you're into those haunted house flicks.
