Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust

This is THE best anime movie I've seen. It has everything an anime needs; Monsters, vampires, blood, action, violence, gore, an excellent story, and a bad ass character. This is the first movie that I've ever given a 10-rating. I was seriously considering giving it a 9 instead, but after thinking back on the movie, I came to the conclusion that it kicks ass!

The movie starts off pretty fast when D gets hired by a rich man to get his kidnapped daughter from a vampire lord named MEIER. It turns out that the daughter is in love with the vampire. D isn't the only one wanting the reward money for the girl. A group of notorious vampire hunters called the Markus Brothers are after her too.

What I really enjoyed about the movie aside from the cool plot is the sweet characters that are introduced early on in the film. The vampire hunters each have their own cool characteristic and the enemies are very hard to kill. One of my favorite enemies is BENGE, who would kill his enemies by lurking in the shadows.

There's an obvious difference from the first film and this sequel. When you compare the animation it's just so smoother now. Japanese anime has really come a long way since the first Vampire Hunter D movie. It's safe to say that this really tops the first movie and if you're a fan of the first then you'll love this sequel. I believe that it should hit video sometime next year. So many movies came close to a 10-rating, but none of them made it like this movie did. Just goes to show that I really liked it.

OVERALL

If you're into japanese animation or a fan of the first Vamp D movie, then you'll really enjoy this movie as I did. I definatelly recommend this movie.

personally, i enjoyed the first one much more, although D didn't talk as much in the first as the second when he did talk it was just bone chilling.....Great voice acting from D's VA in the first, although the second had much more dialogue i just didn't think D's VA was up to snuff. They actualy considered bringing back the guy from the first one, but i don't know what happened with that. And i like the parasite on his hand better in the first, he was more of a malevolent annoyance, whom D just told to shut the hell up and he did, where as the second he was like a character in and of himself, which wasn't bad, but it aged so much it looked like an old man on his palm and sounded like someone in their mid to late 20s i just didn't think it matched up, but i'm not gonna lie the ending of the second one is very very well done. Can't fault the first one's ending either tho, but it's the stereotypical country western type ending.....hero rides off into the sunset never to be seen again by the smokin little hotty he should just stayed there with and had her to himself....i mean common.....but i digress, good movie, but not worth a 10 in my mind......8.5 i'd say.
