Ab-Normal Beauty
I expected better from Oxide Pang, who wrote and directed The Eye with his brother Danny. There were times where it seemed like he was resorting back to some of the same tactics used in The Eye, which obviously shows that they're better off working as a team than going solo. The story had potential, but there were too many times were it seemed as though they tried too hard to scare us. The fact whether this movie has anything to do with ghosts is also up for question, since it does seem to suffer an identity crisis, until later on that it is revealed to be a film that involves a killer.
The story basically follows a young photographer as she makes her rounds taking shots of anything she deems worthy. Eventually she comes across a car accident where a woman was killed. She naturally takes pictures of the scene and experiences some sort of high, which leads her to take more pictures of death. She gets to a point where it begins to consume her life and her friends naturally start to worry. The young photographer's sanity is the least of their worries when an unknown tape shows up that reveals a woman getting killed. The movie then turns from a somewhat supernatural look at photography and death, to the woman and her friends searching for the origins of the tape.
I just couldn't get into this flick. There weren't any scares and I couldn't get into any of the characters. The story just dragged on at times and I didn't like how it seemed to just change from a wannabe-supernatural movie to a killer that likes to video tape his murders. Though, despite it all it does have some decent moments and it's not entirely bad, which led me to my 6-rating.
OVERALL
A decent flick, but since it had no scares and dragged on too much, I couldn't get into it.

There are a couple of pieces of trivia here:
1) The car accident that is the catalyst of the girl's journey into obsession with death is the same in the film 'Leave Me Alone'
Danny Pang directed 'Leave Me Alone' Which is about twins switching places.
Both films have the same accident, right down to the same scene and same actors. Yet the sets of two very different reactions in each film.
2) The two girls in the film are supposed to be lovers. They are played by actual sisters who are also Pop Singers.
You might want to check out 'Leave Me Alone' which is a mildly entertaining action/comedy with little visual jokes(including a scene
that pokes fun of the tv show '24'
