South Korean movies always manage to fit in comedy in a lot of their mainstream films, and from most of the films I've seen they really know what they're doing. That is the case here. First-time director Jeong-won Shin successfully combines action and comedy, with a dash of horror. At first glance you'd think Sang-Jin Kim of Attack the Gas Station and Kick the Moon-fame directed this piece, since he's another successful South Korean director that adds a nice blend of comedy into different genres.

The movie plays out more as a comedy for the most part, with only brief instances involving a ghost. The plot follows a group of gangsters in search of one of their own that made off with stolen diamonds. They track him by his cell to a secluded farming town, where they force themselves onto the locals, thinking they know something that they're not telling. Well it turns out that the locals did meet up with the guy earlier after he crashed his car close-by. They were kind enough to bring him in and offer him food, but he ends up buried alive when the locals get their hands on one of his diamonds. As the gangsters come closer to the truth on the whereabouts of their traitorous comrade, the dark truth behind the locals and a nearby school is revealed.

I really enjoyed this flick. The comedy worked, and the characters were all unique and interesting. The fact that they blended horror towards the end was a sweet bonus. With a successful mix of different genres and homage to such films like Evil Dead, this is yet another solid piece of South Korean cinema. OVERALL

If you're looking for an entertaining Asian horror-comedy, then let this be it. Interesting characters and good humor. Definitely recomennded.
