Beyond
the Darkness
It's no surprise coming from Italian adult-film director Joe D'Amato that his earlier "movies" had a lot of nudity. I didn't really know the guy did horror until I saw this flick. Although I do believe I reviewed another one of his movies called The Grim Reaper, which I didn't like, but then again I saw an edited version.
This strange little film is basically about a rich young man who loses his fiancé and then decides to dig up her rotting corpse, clean her up, and place her back in the home. He then searches for possible replacements for her, and while in the process of finding failures, disposes of them with the help of the housekeeper, who seems to have an unusual fixation with the young man.
A plus about this movie, and probably the only thing, is the gore. It does have a good amount, much like most Italian horror movies. I mean, the movie has its interesting moments (mainly just gore and death scenes), but I was pretty bored overall, which is why I decided a 4-rating was best fitting. I guess it was just too dull and predictable for me. Especially the ending.
OVERALL
A decent
watch for Itallian gore fans. I was personally bored with what was going
on in the film. Not recommended.
