| Boo! This is effects guru Anthony C. Ferrante's first directorial effort and for a direct-to-video it isn't that bad. Although the premise isn't very original, he does manage to serve up some decent scares and CGI effects. The film follows the basic premise of a group of college students seeking adventure in an abandoned insane asylum. Of course all they find there are unkind spirits and possessed bodies. It's later revealed that it's the work of one specific ghost who accidentally killed himself and others after attempting to escape. Now he possesses any dead body (which happens to be the college students) that he can get a hold of, hoping to finally live again and be free for good. The movie proves to be above your average direct-to-video by combining the same-old story with some new ideas I.E. the undead possessed bodies. Although some of the acting is questionable and the scares wont work on your typical hardcore horror fanatic, it still manages to deliver some decent effects and nice humor to equal an all-around entertaining low-budget horror flick.
